I tried installing ccextractor, but I cannot get it to work. I have a 64 bit windows 7 machine. when I install ccextractor, it installs successfully, but when i try to launch it it shuts down immediately & displays the window to either close the program or let windows search for a solution. any help would be appreciated as all my google searches for a way to convert a cc stream to srt points to this specific program.

Thank you for your answer. It's indeed slave mode :). It's a pity that you cannot start a script with run command by passing some parameters. Having such a line in input.conf file for mplayer like : x run my_script "${file_name}" - just doesn't work. So the only way to get full control of all possible mplayer properties values is to process mplayer output. I ended up with this kind of a command: mplayer -slave -input file=mpin $* 2>&1 | grep --line-buffered ^ANS_ > mpout & vedit_log_proc where mpin and mpout are pipe files and vedit_log_proc is the script which will make sense for the filtered output by grep of any strings which starts in ANS_ (noticed that any mplayer property values starts with this prefix in name). With such approach you can catch and trigger new events by sending commands to mpin file. Thanks again.

Haven't hacked with MPlayer in a while, but slave mode does allow displaying strings. I have my *very old* mplayer-resume script which will grab the playback position, but it uses LIRC. Either way, the answer is slave mode. :T

Hi, I found your post while I was looking for a way to toggle a custom message while playing a video with mplayer. In general I'm trying to log in a file current view position of the video so that later on I will use logged info to extract from viewed one interested parts. I need to find a way to display a feedback on the screen while registering those parts. Example, when interesting section plays, I press a button and I want mplayer to display something like "registering..." and then when pressing again it will remove the message. Any Idea? Thanks, vadimbo

You're killing me Steve! All I want to do is rip my VHS tapes so my niece can watch Elmo over and over and over and over again. That's how I found your blog post "ripping vhs" from October 2009. Then I started looking at your other posts, and then more posts and more! Now I've got a couple of hours of reading to do just from poking around a bit. Keep up the great work. I think I've found a kindred spirit. You've inspired me to start my own blog so that I can output some of the input I get from reading about what interests me. Thanks.

Hey This is the first I've heard of znurt and I'm finding it quite interesting. is functional but obviously very outdated, znurt OTOH has a decent UI, perhaps these efforts could be combined?
