Maria Has Turned Into A Monster Sized Hurricane

2017-09-19T00:20:24.372-05:00

Hurricane Maria, a dangerous Category 5 storm, reached the island of Dominica in the eastern Caribbean on Monday night with sustained winds of 160 mph, forecasters said.

It was expected to deliver destructive waves, a storm surge of up to 9 feet, flooding and mudslides along a path that the National Hurricane Center said includes Guadeloupe, the Leeward Islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

The storm was moving northwest at 9 mph Monday night as it struck Dominica, a nation of roughly 74,000 people located less than 400 miles southeast of Puerto Rico. Landfall there was expected as soon as late Tuesday.

Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello declared a state of emergency Monday, activated the National Guard and closed all schools.

Why Are So Many Americans Getting Sick In Cuba?

2017-09-18T01:57:11.158-05:00

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Sunday that the Trump administration is considering whether to close the U.S. Embassy in Havana following a string of unexplained incidents that have damaged the health of American diplomats.

“We have it under evaluation,” Tillerson told CBS News’ “Face the Nation.” “It's a very serious issue.”

At least 21 Americans have been confirmed to have suffered some kind of medical harm in Havana. Tillerson also confirmed the State Department has brought home some of the people affected.

He has previously called the episodes "health attacks." But the State Department now refers to them as "incidents."

Their cause and culprits have yet to be determined. However, U.S. officials said the victims suffered from hearing loss and, in some cases, mild brain damage, possibly from sound waves. Cuban President Raul Castro has claimed his government had nothing to do with it.

Tillerson spoke amid calls from some U.S. senators to shutter the embassy in Cuba’s capital.

A backup box, formally called multiplexer-demultiplexer, or MDM, is working and NASA said the station's five-person crew was not in danger.

So clearly Allen seems to feel this the axing of his show wasn't entirely fair either.

Earlier Tuesday on a conference call with reporters, ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey defended her decision to cancel the show.

But under the microscope you’ll find it is clearly and frustratingly human, its perfection marred by series of bizarre and occasionally facepalm-worthy flaws.

U.S. Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy has been removed by the Trump administration and replaced temporarily by his deputy, Rear Adm. Sylvia Trent-Adams.

Murthy, a holdover from the Obama administration, was asked to resign, according to a statement released Friday night by the Department of Health and Human Services. In a post on Facebook, Murthy wrote that “for the grandson of a poor farmer from India to be asked by the President to look out for the health of an entire nation was a humbling and uniquely American story. I will always be grateful to our country for welcoming my immigrant family nearly 40 years ago and giving me this opportunity to serve.” His dismissal came on the eve of the March for Science, which drew thousands of demonstrators to the National Mall.

Almost everyone who contracts the Ebola virus ends up dead within a matter of weeks. However, that is no longer the case after an American doctor, Kent Brantly, was treated with a new medicine. Not long ago, it was announced that Dr. Brantly will soon be released from an Atlanta hospital. While Dr. Brantly is certainly not totally out of the woods yet, he is definitely on his way and that's great news for everyone.

It's difficult watching the news these days when the streets are filled with protesters, Americans are being beheaded in foreign lands and politicians in Washington don't seem to do anything but go on recess and/or vacation. My hope is the United States of America is working it's way through a transition and more good days will be ahead of us, because the alternative is something no reasonable person would want to live through.

#hutchreport #terror #isis

Like many of you, I believe President Obama does not like military conflict and will almost certainly go out of his way to avoid it, if possible. However, there are times when U.S. military force should be used and that time is now when it comes to getting rid of ISIS. There is no way to reason with them and no way they can be rehabilitate, either. They must be killed or they will most certainly bring their murderous ideology to the United States of America.
