Sweden,

That's a ridiculous statement. How about Ghandi:

"Palestine belongs to the Arabs in the same sense that England belongs to the English or France to the French. It is wrong and inhuman to impose the Jews on the Arabs... Surely it would be a crime against humanity to reduce the proud Arabs so that Palestine can be restored to the Jews partly or wholly as their national home."

If you don't think Ghandi is a "reliable public person of good reputation" you're a moron. I'm not going to waste time digging up any more; he's the first I tried.

anonymous, "There is no shortage of famous people who have made racist, Islamophobic and anti-Semitic comments. What's your point?"

Good question. The point is:

It is impossible to find a SINGLE reliable public person of good reputation who is supportive of Arabs through all history. (except Arabs of course.. :) If anyone say some semi-positive (like Richard Burton for example), he detract it in the next sentence. Even many from Middle East bash Arabs, From Ibn Khaldun (1350) to Adonis (2007).

Freund der Ordnung thinks:

Is it not time for some self-examination?

The Grand Turk took the loss
greatly to heart, and with the cunning which all his race possess

I myself have written this: have a care to whom
thou givest it to read: trust no Arab for they are all perfidious.

"By all that's good,
I'll as soon let my face be smacked or handled as turn Moor

Saint James the Moorslayer, one of the bravest saints and knights the
world ever had or heaven has now.

being a true Arab he went where he could go most easily;

Although a Moor, I know well enough from the
intercourse I have had with Christians that holiness consists in charity,
humility, faith, obedience, and poverty;

"Although a Moor", well I must say! :)

"It seems to me, Anselmo, that thine is just now the temper of mind which is always that of the Moors, who can never be brought to see the error of their creed by quotations from the Holy Scriptures, or by reasons which depend upon the examination of the understanding or are founded upon the articles of faith, but must have examples that are palpable, easy, intelligible, capable of proof, not admitting of doubt, with mathematical demonstrations that cannot be denied, like, 'If equals be taken from equals, the remainders are equal:'and if they do not understand this in words, and indeed they do not, it has to be shown to them with the hands, and put before their eyes, and even with all this no one succeeds in convincing them of the truth.."

dr. mathews,

As I said, I find it such attention about Jews morbid, I don't understand it. I can see that the Jews themselves are interested but why anyone else?

And you know that Cide Hamete Benengeli is a fictitious character I hope? The connection from the Pen in Don Quixote to the magic Saracen pen is rather thin, to say the least. And of course the "Supreme Pen" in the Quran is only superstition. Much Ado For Nothing, I say.

Not only did Cervantes invent the Arab, but he is rather condescending towards him and frequently makes him object of ridicule. “Unreliable”, “lying dog of a Moor”, etc. :)

All this attempts to make soup on a stone is entertaining.

2007-10-13T11:16:00.000-07:00

Taking Cervantes at his word, Francisco Márquez Villanueva, who has solved so many of the hidden mysteries of the Quixote, insists that the author "ansía ser entendido y guarda sus tesoros para el lector culto y avisado" [yearns to be understood and keeps his treasures for the educated and sagacious reader]. 3 The scene of the pen suspended in the air and born exclusively for the "enterprise" (empresa) of writing the anachronistic knight-errant's story constitutes one of those hidden treasures replete with secret codes.

If we read the scene from the cultural coordinates of Islam--those with which Cervantes could have familiarized himself in his years of captivity in Algiers as well as in Spain--the prodigious pen that prepared the Quixote bears a close relationship to the "Supreme Pen" or al-qalam al-a'la of the Koran (68:1). Cide's pen, necessarily Arabic given the lineage of its owner, extols the fact that the novel was born "para mí sola" [for me alone] and that the enterprise of its writing was "para mí estaba guardada" [reserved for me alone] (2:592-93; 940). 4 In this way, Cervantes gives homage to the work's Islamic context, for this primordial Arabic pen, associated with the sacred writing of God the creator and his Supreme Intellect, inscribes the inexorable destiny of human beings on the "Well-Preserved Tablet" (al-lawh al-mahfuz), also of Koranic origin (85:21-22). Looked at from this angle, the final scene of the Quixote no longer seems absurd but begins to yield up its secret ironies.

Taken from The Supreme Pen (Al-Qalam Al-A'la) of Cide Hamete Benengeli in Don Quixote, by Luce López-Baralt, University of Puerto Rico and translated by Marikay McCabe Columbia University New York, New York.

Cervantes knows the Moors at first hand because he was kidnapped and kept a prisoner in Algeria! A magic Saracen pen? What are you talking about?

2007-10-13T10:19:00.000-07:00

The history of the Jews in Muslim Spain is generally regarded as the "Golden Age" and as the most significant sector of Jewish history in mediaeval times. It was in this and the subsequent Christian-Spanish period that Jews served as transmitters to Europe of the ancient Greek heritage, as it was developed in the countries of Islam. No wonder, then, that the history of the Jews in mediaeval Spain has long been a favorite subject of research. The now antiquated but still useful Historia social, politica y religiosa de los Judios de España y Portugal by Amador de 10s Rios (3 volumes, Madrid, 1875-76) indicates the extent to which
Christian Spanish scholars were attracted by that phase of their country's history. This interest has increased, rather than abated, in recent times and has resulted
in many noteworthy, solid studies, such as F. Cantera's Sinagogas Españoles (Madrid, 1955), J. Millhs-Vallicrosa's painstaking works about mediaeval Jewish
scientists, the joint edition by these two scholars of Hebrew inscriptions in Spain (Madrid 1956), and the long series of archaeological studies by various authors of juderias, or Jewish quarters, in Spanish towns. As far as Jewish scholarship is concerned, since the inception of the so-called "science of Judaism," one hundred and fifty years ago, every facet of Jewish history and Hebrew literature
in Spain has been subjected to detailed scrutiny.
++++
So common is the Muslim leitmotiv of this pen of destiny that I have documented it on more than one occasion in the clandestinely written and preserved codices of the Aljamiado Moriscos. Cervantes knew the Moriscos at first hand, for he portrays one of them frequenting the Alcaná of Toledo ready to translate old Arabic manuscripts. (One of those manuscripts contained the very adventures of Don Quixote.) In Madrid, Biblioteca Nacional MS 4955, a gigantic pen of light writes its inexorable message upon the heavens without the guidance of a hand. It is a magic Saracen pen, obviously related to Cide Hamete's autonomous pen.

2007-10-13T08:22:00.001-07:00

There are plenty of misconceptions about anti-arab sentiment on all sides, enough to go around.

The fact remains that Israel, with its history of war crimes and genocide, has made the removal of Arabs into their national project. Significant elements are in place in all major cities in Israel, and in settlements, who are doing their best to escalate these projects.

Zionists can't see what is wrong with genocide--- just another term for "Chosen People" in their canon--- and the Arabs are traditional targets, for them. So are Christians, but they have learned that killing and raping the half-dozen nuns who operate the health clinic, leads to warships, soldiers, and other undesirable outcomes that must be overcome through lies, deceit, propaganda, and ultimately a strong Jewish lobby in the US to dispell any potential sanctions against Israel.

Jews are the lords of the Earth. Either you are a Zionist or you are a dead Arab.

2007-10-13T08:10:00.000-07:00

There are plenty of misconceptions about antisemitism on all sides, enough to go around.

The fact remains that several dozen modern nations, with Christian or Muslim histories, have made the removal of Jews into their national projects. Significant elements remain in place in all Muslim-inhabited regions, and in Christian fringe areas like Russia and South America, who would like to continue these projects.

Islam can't see what is wrong with genocide--- just another term for "Muslim Lands" in their canon--- and the Jews are traditional targets, for them. So are Christians, but they have learned that killing and raping the half-dozen nuns who operate the health clinic, leads to warships, soldiers, and other undesirable outcomes.

Hey guys!!!

I am back! I woke out of my coma this morning. Boy, I sure am hungry!

Can somone please bring me a couple lambs and a small Palestinian child? I need some breakfast.

What happened to my stoutly figure? All I have left is big flaps of skin hanging down below my ankles. I can not even see my penis any longer. In fact, I can not even feel if it is there anymore.

Have we won Judea and Samaria yet? Have we crushed Hamas and re-taken southern Lebanon according to plan?

There is so much to catch up on!

"Freedom and individual rights is lined up against an Islamist-fascist axis whose prime values are Jihad, dictatorial theocracy and the utter subservience of the individual to the state and its religion."

What have that to do with Judaism?

It is Moderity and Progress against backwardsness. Judaism or Jews havé nothing to do with it.

If I only don't have to live near subhumans like Abraham I am satisfied.Take away all Jews and Muslim backwardsness is still here.
I am fed up with this Muslim preoccupation with Jews.
