alex, this is wonderful news for me as i have had it with ATT and am moving my cell service back to verizon, HOWEVER as so many on your blog have pointed out, an iPhone without cell service is a very handy tool. thanks for putting this out there. i am relieved that i will still be able to use one of my favorite products for all the synced category's from my laptop!

@Rich: Don't forget 6) Maps.app 7) Real volume buttons 8) "Song Skip" button on headset 9) Speaker 10) and if you jailbreak it a voice recorder All in all worth the 100$.

A non-functional iPhone vs iPod The iPhone has 1) Camera 2) Mail app (this is big for me). 3) The Notes app 4) Weather app 5) Stocks app If these are important to you, then the iPhone is worth it. Especially with the price drop.

I wonder if it's possible to get it to use any other provider instead? Have you checked if that is possible?

Well, it's a little better than an iPod Touch because it has the Mail app on it (IIRC, there's no Mail app on the Touch).

Hi there, I'm from germany and here I try to integrate a blog that cares about these problems your posted here. As I know from the newspapers Apple offers you a 100 bugs because they droped the price of the iPhone. Did you allready get the money for yours? Beside: "Cool that you turned the cell to an iPod Touch instead :-)" All the best, Chris
