Finger-lickin' confessions of a middle-class KFC addict

Sat, 24 Feb 2018 06:09:00 +1300

My name is Tomé and I'm a fried chicken addict. All fried chicken, in general, but Kentucky Fried Chicken in particular. It wouldn't quite make my last supper - I like to think I'd go a little more upmarket - but it's my ultimate comfort food.

Jeremy Elwood & Michele A'Court: The jobs we hate

Sat, 24 Feb 2018 05:00:00 +1300

OPINION: Husband-and-wife comedians and commentators Jeremy Elwood and Michele A'Court give their views.

Michele A'Court

If you've got one of those coffee mugs that say, "Choose a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life," I bet there are moments when you'd like to chuck it at the watercooler.

I bumped into Amy Adams on a plane last week. I hope this doesn't jinx her leadership chances, but I like Amy – she seems like a good human and I admire a couple of things she did back when National was in charge. Amy looked serene, but I reckon this is a tricky business, competing with your colleagues without destroying relationships with people you're going to have to keep working with. It's hard to say you're great without suggesting someone else would be terrible.

Amie Richardson: ‘I’ve been fat. I’ve been thin.’

Sat, 24 Feb 2018 05:00:00 +1300

For all you fatists out there, here's some vital information. Fat people aren't stupid. Just like you, they understand what food is, the basic relationship between energy in and energy out, and that poor food choices and limited exercise results in weight gain. There's no need to speak to them as you would a sick child, explaining how a diet shake could work to reduce calorie intake and shed weight. Save your pity or disapproving looks and know that you don't hold any special secret that we have yet to learn.
