I too spent 4 1/2 months in hospital after being paralyzed from breast line down and I see myself and my own feelings in your post.
Thank you for sharing.

Thanks, everyone.

Kim, yes! Why, WHY, must my hair be washed while AMC is on?

I also got here from Change of Shift. I just graduated from nursing school yesterday, and I'm anxious about entering the "real world" in a couple of months after I get my license. Practically every other day I wonder if I've made the right decision; tonight, though, I have no doubts. Thank you.

I'm here from Change of Shift, too. Your story reminds me that what seem like small things to us can mean big things for our patients.

I did have to laugh at "All My Children" - my one gripe during the time I was in labor with my oldest was that the nursing supervisor would come in to chit-chat right in the middle of "General Hospital" and how was I supposed to keep up with Luke and Laura if she wouldn't shut up?

Ahem....I probably needed a priority adjustment, but I loved my soaps!

This is beautiful. Thank you.

Came here via Change of Shift. So glad I did.
Thanks for giving me new hope for my profession. I needed it.

It's nice to hear good feedback from the other side of the bed. Our perspective as caregivers is often limited, and it's nice to be able to see the world through your eyes and know that sometimes we make a difference.

That was... fantastic.

I hope I can be as gracious with those who take care of me. You've reminded me how important it is.

Thank you.

I don't have the necessary or sufficient words to respond to that.

That's a beautiful post, that is.

The part that struck me most (though all of it had some reasonance )was the social worker that helped head off an institutionalization.

Many of us could use help like that, and anecdotally it seems only some of us get it.

Very glad that last year's experience has turned out so well.
