it's a day late, but my grouch day started sometime in the last three weeks and seems to be continuing on indefinitely. pissing me off lately? so-called good friends who are not supportive about the wedding, the realization that my so-called dream job is turning into more of a nightmare, and the need for more than 24 hours in a day. Blah. :)

What's pissing me off today? The rental car that we received today that smelled like wet dog and something else I couldn't quite put my finger on. Then I discovered the something else mystery smell...... carcass!!!!!! Yep the trunk {it was a Jeep Laredo} had a lovely smearing of blood and feathers!!!!!! Someone had a good weekend hunting!! Did the rental car company not look at the truck when it was returned?! Apparently not! Did they drive it to us with their eyes closed and noses plugged?! Apparently so!! Did I swap the car at lunch time?! YES!!!!

Ok. It is not National Grouch Day here since I am in the US, but I will gladly partake anyway. 1- My bathroom remodel project is still not even halfway done after 3 weeks and 1 bathroom for 5 people is not cutting it. Plus, there is a layer of dust on everything in the house, and the jack-hammering and pounding make it near impossible for the boys to take naps. 2- I finally convinced my sassy hubby that we should turn on the furnace after over a week of 50 degree weather, and we have come to find out that the stupid thing is just NOT working. Now besides our carpenter and our plumber working on the bathroom we have to have someone come out and check our dopey furnace, and who knows how much they will charge for that. 3- I specifically asked my son's preschool teacher if I should bring a snack to school today even though they were going on a field trip, and she said yes. So I went out and bought the snack and packaged them all up really cute, and when I picked Joe up today he said they didn't get to eat them. ???? 4- Worst of all, my dad has had Alzheimers for quite some time now and my poor mum has to start thinking about putting him in a nursing home. He got lost the other day and we had to call the police. :( Sorry to vent so much. On a positive note, my kids are healthy, I have a warm home, and food to eat. I am very blessed.

1. Target doesn't ship to Canada. Crappy especially when you really need something that they sell for so much less than it sells for in Canada. 2. That things sell for so much more in Canada even though our dollar is stronger than in the US. 3. That my youngest is over a year and still got up 3 times last night wanting to feed. 4. That the house is always a mess and I'm not great about getting the oldest to put away the toys. 5. I'm sick of cooking. I used to love it. 6. I just switched to Primus and now my phone line is all static-y. 7. I'm sick of breastfeeding. But, my hair is looking *fine* today, I'm not in an office, and both kids are asleep at the same time! (I know being all positive is not in the spirit of grumpy day, but I have to leave on a high note!)

As I speak (or write), there is a crew of roofers banging, banging, BANGING keeping three kids awake during naptime. I suppose I shouldn't grouch too much about it since we could be in the same boat as Trixie and be footing the $13,000 to have our roof repaired. Instead we had hail damage and our home insurance is paying for it! (But they're still keeping the kids awake!!)

Me ex because he can buy a new house with his girlfriend but won't pay his daughter's daycare expenses. Because he blames ME for the stress in his life. Because I hate his girlfriend for ruining my daughter's life. Because I went for a run this morning to burn off some of this grouchiness and now my lower back is killing me!!! ugh

My grouch every single school day: parents yakking on their cell phones as they're dropping off or picking up their kids. Can we spare just two minutes chatting with the kids? Nope.

Today I grouch as a homeowner. We just got the estimate for some roof repair work. $11,000!! Didn't this house pass inspection 2 years ago? Didn't the listing brag of a "new roof and 3 new skylights"? Well, Mr I'm-Handy-with-a-Hammer handled it himself. I blame the "You can do it. We can help" Home Depot ads. You CAN'T do it! You SUCK at doing it!! Footing that bill will nix a lot of plans, including visiting my BFF while she's on assignment in The Hague. Dangit! Paying for the roof over our heads is what the freakin' mortgage is for, isn't it? ARGH! There. That's the sound of my garbage can lid slamming down. Go away. I'm grouchy..

I miss shopping in the USA! I am sick of malls in Ottawa... not like I can FIT INTO ANYTHING anyway... I miss regular clothes and pants that don't fall down! I want American stores here, now. Yes, we have Banana, finally and I'm excited for BCBG opening up in Rideau Centre - the best dresses ever! But I also want a Victoria's Secret because La Senza really sucks in comparison. I want Sephora, and POTTERY BARN and Pottery Barn Kids SO BADLY, and Williams Sonoma, and Crate and Barrel and Mimi Maternity and Abercrobmie (will I ever fit in their t's again?) and I want Nordstrom's. And Arden B. And bebe. And Bath and Body Works. I miss living in D.C. where I shopped until I dropped. Okay... enough shopping rambling. But truth be told... I do miss it all. And wish we had better shopping here. Also? I'm sad my boy has a cold! Yes, it is just a cold, and yes, it resulted in him going to bed at 9:30 last night instead of his usual midnight, but still... a runny nose is not fun for him, poor darling. I am also very tired this a.m. And did I mention I'm sick of mat clothes?

What ISN"T there to be grouchy about today? THAT'S THE KIND OF DAY I'M HAVING. Now, off to get the car's emissions test and then to the DMV for the new license plate sticker, then to the vet's for Molly's infected eye! Whoopeee! EXACTLY THE KIND OF THING I WANT TO HAUL MY EXTRA TEN POUNDS AROUND AND DO JUST BEFORE A DEAR OLD FRIEND WHO IS A GORGEOUS ACTRESS AND AWARD WINNING WRITER FROM NEW YORK COMES TO VISIT ME ON THURSDAY FOR DRINKS, so I can tell her ALL about my life. (written with SINGLE thumb twacks)

The day is relatively young, but I'm heading out to Yorkdale mall with the girl, to buy myself a BD prezzie so I'm sure something will grouch me out during my travels. Good luck tonight, BTW. I'm sure you'll do a great job!

This one woman (whom i've never met but have to deal with) is always responding to my emails in the nastiest and condescending tone. I know it's hard to "read" people's tones in emails, but she IS mean and it always makes me feel crummy and sad when i open one of her emails. Why is she so mean to me????? :(

Ooh, I pick my in-laws who won't drive the 3 hours to Ottawa but then get all "Oh, you've grown so big" to Reid when we finally make the trip 11 months after our last trip. Or there is the other set of in-laws who visit precisely once per year (and then only for 3 or 4 hours) and then my mother-in-law cries when we leave and tells us how she misses us. Get in the car or on the bus and come to Ottawa! In both cases, only one of the in-laws works full time. They have no small children to cart and no animals to worry about. Arrgh! Thanks for letting me vent. My inner grouch has been satisfied.

Where do I begin? There's a reason why my parents referred to me as the frump grump when I was a kid... And the paperwork sitting on my desk waiting to be completed gives lots of reason to revert to that state! And, I'm pretty sure you weren't going to bake cupcakes or kiss kittens today anyway, were you? :o) You don't even like cats!
