Comment on Killing the Top Ten Sacred Cows of Publishing: #9… Writing is Hard by Rachel

Tue, 11 Jul 2017 02:09:03 +0000

I don't know what you write, but I've written 25 books and they were all varying degrees of hard. I've been published for 13 years. I've been on the New York Times the USA today in the Wall Street Journal. Making stuff up that is not easy. It has to be believable, feel real and true to the story. All the elements have to fit the story and have purpose. you have to have twist and metaphors and symbols and surprises... realistic dialogue, beautiful wordsmithing, scenes with tension and conflict. The story has to matter. Characters have to go on a journey. Characters have to have an epiphany... I teach a lot of writing and work with a lot of writers f and I always tell them it's hard. And if you don't embrace the fact that it's hard you'll quit. That's why everyone who says they have a book in them never write past the first few pages... if that. Because writing is hard.

Interesting article. I have freelanced for a while now. Looking to blog. Definitely the freelancing provides funds to continue building on the goal. I haven't heard of Createspace Book. Need to look into it. I'm trying to guestimate the value of infographics. never done it but looks like a benefit for building backlinks. Well here's to blogging. Have a great day. :)

Our "hore" stayed at a friend's house. My dad and all of us kids, myself (female), and my three brothers liked to ride the "hore". My mother never did.
