Comment on the labor that kept on stopping–my third birth by Rebekah

Fri, 18 Nov 2011 22:00:22 +0000

I re-read this birth story before Henry was born and reading it again now it's very similar to my birth with Henry (which I will get around to posting sometime soon!) It was really helpful during my labor with him to have just ready about your third labor. It actually made me feel more relaxed about how things were going.

Thank you Beth! You were a God send to us, first time parents trying to have a natural birth in a hospital environment. Your patience, kindness, and comforting spirit helped see us through. I wish you could see Logan now, his head is STILL huge....just like you said....even at 5 years old. Your name is a part of his birth story and I will make sure he knows what a special woman was there to help bring me him into our family.

Comment on how long does it take the cervix to dilate 5 centimeters? by Annabell

how do i know if the evening primrose oil is working? i was currently 3 cm dilated an 40 percent effaced at 37 weeks,i take evening primrose oil gel pills 2 by mouth twice a day an 2 gell pills inserted intra vaginally right befour bedtime. im 41 weeks now an just started them 3 days ago, my induction is in 3 days will i have enough time for my cervix to thin out by then? with the dosage im doing with the evening primrose. please answer me soon thank you so much!
Annabell, the purpose of evening primrose oil is to soften or efface the cervix and you were already pretty soft 4 weeks ago at 40%. I'm sure that an induction would work for you based on the info you have given me. ~blessings, Guinever

i was taking evening primrose oil gel 2 orally by mouth 2 times a day an 2 gel at night right befour i go to bed. this time after i layed down even flat on my back 2-3 mins later they leaked out. i m 41 weeks pregnant.my question is,am i fully effaced because the oil just leaaked out? or did i not insert it correctly? i am 3 cm dialated since 38 weeks an 40 percent effaced since then. i hope you can answer my question thnak you 2 gels at night inserted intra vaginally right befour i go to bed**
Annabell, I don't think the state of your cervix has anything to do with why the oil leaked out. It's probably because the gel cap melted and you changed position so it leaked. ~blessings, Guinever

Im at least 39wks along, maybe more? I just had an ultrasound done its showing Im over 40.5wks with a 9lb er~~. Anyway, I was just cheked today and Im at least 5-5.5 cm dilated and 80%effaced. My Doctor said the baby still needed to come down a little bit, but she can feel babys head&my water bag. I have had irregular contrx up until this point. Doc says she would be suprsied if I make it another 4 days. But of course anything is possible. What do you think? Also even with me being over 5cm the hospital wont keep me until Im in "active labor" Im so ready for my little girl to be born!!
Bree, I think it's just a matter of time before your labor starts and I think it will be very soon. ~birthing blessings, Guinever

Hey...I am 36weeks preggo and doc said my placenta is calcifying earlier than she expects.I only go back 2 her in the next 5days where i'l be 37weeks.is there anything to b concerned about as I read alot about stillborn births due to placental calcification.
Fatima, I think you should express your concerns to your doctor and see what she says. I don't think that the placenta calcifying causes stillbirth; it's just one sign that is observed with some stillborns. Many healthy babies are born with a placenta that has started to calcify. Definitely talk to your doctor about options and whether delivering early may be an option for you. ~blessings, Guinever

im 40 weeks pregnant and ive been having some contractions small ones but strong im 2 cm dilated and 70% effaced. if i have sex do you think labor will start sooner? and is raspberry tea safe for the pregnancy? im overwhelmed i need to have this baby!!
Raspberry leaf (note the leaf part) is great for pregnancy and for toning and strengthening the uterus. There are no guarantees, butr having sex can help to start labor. Soon you will have your baby. ~blessings, Guinever

Comment on how long does it take the cervix to dilate 5 centimeters? by Laci

Im a little over 32 weeks pregnant with my third child. my doctor put me on bedrest because I was already dilated to a 3 and 80% effaced. If my baby is born soon is there a chance he will not have to go to the neonatal unit? Im just really afraid of something going wrong, and need some type of reassurance. Also, Ive been having pains that feel like strong menstrual cramps in my lower abdomen and back. The doctor checked and I was not contracting. What could this be?
Dear Laci, there's always a chance your baby could go to the NICU even if he/she's born full-term. However, of course, full-term babies have a better chance of being born healthy. The lungs will be fully developed at 36 weeks. Before then, steroids can be administered that can help the baby's lung mature. Have you been given the steroid shots. What you describe sounds like contractions to me or at at the very least, pressure is being put on the cervix and causing you to dilate. I'm not sure how reassuring I can be, but if the cramping continues, you should definitely get checked out again. How did the doctor determine you were not having contractions? By a contraction monitor? Perhaps you weren't contracting when the doc checked you... ~blessings, Guinever

A wonderful story you've share to me. I really love while reading the story. I've been expecting a daughter and I'm having a month before she comes in the outside world. I'm quite afraid coz it's my first time but with your story it shows me the excitement of being a mother. Thanks for sharing. It really helps me a lot.

I think I juat lost my mucos plug!, and I have been having what feels like menstral cramps, and a constant back pain... and I am really sore in my pelvic area! it hurts when i get up..to the point i can barely walk.. I am 34 weeks and 2 days pregnant! my cervix is soft and thinning too! should i call the dr today..or wait till my appointment tomorrw?
Brandi, becasue you're only 34 weeks which is a little early for having a baby, I would call the doctor now so they would have time to administer steroids for the baby's lungs if you were in labor. ~blessings, Guinever
