Comment on Conjunctions – Cause or Reason & Concession by aliciaallyloh

Yes, Jean-Francois, you are absolutely right. My example of "While" in this context should be categorised under "Conjunction - Time". Your example is a good "Conjunction - Concession" but I would use "Though I did not enjoy his company I still agreed to have lunch with him" I think, correct me if I am wrong, a better example of using "while" for "Conjunction- Concession" would be when it means the opposite like "While we should condemn vice, we should praise virtue." Great, love this kind of challenges, it makes my brain juice flowing again....Thanks for the constructive comment...Jean-Francois!!

Even though something doesn't do whatever you planned it to complete does not mean it's useless. Time is the scarcest resource and unless it is managed very little else can be managed.

"While" can well express concession but I do not believe that your example (While I was cycling around I saw some beautiful rare birds)demonstrates this. "While" here expresses the fact that two events were simultaneous. An example of "while" expressing a concession might be "While I did not enjoy his company I still agreed to have lunch with him.
