Here are a few good decent long trails if you live nearby Portola or Woodside.
a) Huddart-Skyline-Wunderlich park loop. If done full around is a nice 2.5 hrs. Park car at Woodside old store, and run up Wunderlich, and along Skyline, go down Huddart and back along 84 to car.
b) Hamms Gulch-Skyline-Windy hill. A good 1.5 hrs. Park car at Windy Hill parking, and run up Alpine rd, take right up the mountain at second bridge over creek. for longer park car down at soccer field in PV near Arastradero Rd.
c) Alpine Rd - Skyline - Russian Ridge - Oak - Alpine back again. Park car in PV, run up Coal mine trail in PV, and then up Alpine rd single track to skyline, around Russion Ridge and back. Good 2+ hrs.

Hi Scott,

I live in Palo Alto and would love your recommendations for local running trails. I'm a pretty avid trail runner/competitor, so the longer/tougher, the better.

Thanks!

Nice report Scott
WTC 06 was my first ever ultra, and most insanely fun exciting race ever. I loved it. Pity there was not more snow though.
Cheers, Paul Charteris

Great report Scott. Take a look at these PICs from Sunday's Cool MTB race starting in the same location http://www.racemtbikes.com/Cool2006/index.htm

Looks like saturday got the nicer weather. ;-)
