Just happened to read your old blog posts and thanks for sharing your Boston Marathon experience. We crossed paths during the marathon at some point. I was one of the crazy guys wearing just shorts and a tank top. (My story and pics here.)

Scott,

My friend happened to find your blog and saw my photo from during the race. I'm the runner whose "sense of humor" wasn't dampened.

Great job on the race!

I just noticed that your wife isn't in any of the race write-ups this year. Are you still together?

If not, are you coming to Dallas anytime soon? :)

To GB -

Thanks for stopping by, and congrats on finishing Boston! If you (And Anonymous) want to peruse the blog, there's an index of blog entries that makes for a good starting point.

I don't know how I stumbled upon your blog, but it's great! I'm going to enjoy reading your previous posts, even if it will take me forever.

Congratulations on a Boston '07 well run! You managed to take some great pictures along the course AND finish fast! I enjoyed your race report. I ran this year too, but finished in 3:29 and change. It was my first Boston, but you can bet I'll be back next year. Here's hoping for no wind and perfect weather in '08.

Once again, love the blog!

Scott, nice read once again and great pictures. I'm getting old but was sure that Katherine Switzer ran her historic Boston 30 years ago.

Anyway, Frank Shorter was my hero when I was in high school. It was great watching him win the marathon at his birth place at age 25 (I thought he was old at the time). And I can still remember Boston Billy's races in the 1970's. He an Shorter used to run doubles over some weekends and swap first and second place in the 5K and 10K distances.

Wow, once you find a seemingly missing crack in the cranium, memories just keep flowing. Frank Shorter won the Pan AM games marathon in his debut. I recall he puked during the race.

Ah, the good ol' days! *tc

That looks like pure fun even in the rain. Your pictures are awesome and how cool that you got to meet Kathrine Switzer! I may have to get myself an hour faster so i can qualify and run one of these years..

Anybody looking to qualify for Boston, I will say that half the trick is to pick the right qualifying race. The Napa Marathon has 1,000 vert of downhill, and Bizz-Johnson has 1,100 vert of loss on a softer trail. Two fast courses that are very scnenic. I bet a BQ is within reach!

Thanks again for stopping by...

Awesome report, like always :) Great job out there in some less than ideal conditions! I'd love to get to Boston someday, but it might take me a few decades before the time limit gets high enough for me to meet it. Right now I think I could only qualify if i was 80+ ;)

Congrats again!!

I was really looking forward to reading your post this time! I love your "reason" why you ran! :)

Looking forward to the family reunion in june, I'm sure you'll share more stories with us.

Thanks for stopping by, everyone. Frasi and Rae, I hope to see you there in 2008! My 2:57 at Napa should be enough to get me back.

Rod - so true about the Texas ladies! There seems to be an endless number of funny, beautiful, fast women from that state. They're coming back next year, so line up your Boston Qualifier now...

Way to go out there and blaze up the pavement Scott! I love your lighthearted attitude, which is so rarely matched by such a blistering pace!
So cool you got to chat up such running greats!

I might see you at Bay to Breakers or the Trans Sierra Crossing in August. Can't decide between B2B or the Tilden Tough Ten.

I'm also looking for a running partner for the TransRockies run in September, 6 days, 125 miles from Beaver Creek to Aspen, CO; if you know anyone who is interested. The race requires teams of 2, so I'm looking for a runner around my pace (presently averaging 9-10 min/miles on hilly trail runs, hope to get a little faster over the summer), hopefully in the Bay Area so we can train together.
I've got to find someone by May 1st or I forfeit my spot. Oops, sorry to hijack this "ode to Boston" with my request. Guess I should get my own blog one of these days ;)

Scott,

Congratulations from Spain:

Boston Marathon is one of my objectives for 2008. If you run Boston Marathon 2008 will see you. Before, I will run Nyc Marathon in November.

This sunday I will run Madrid Marathon. I hope to finish it under three hours. I will tell you.
