I had the pleasure of producing and hosting a Halloween Party for Jack, Ann & Kody Tatum last week at The View @ Kings Plow.

Kody was SUPER shocked when I had the LiL Homies, The Rich Kidz, do a suprise performace and of course Mr. Atlanta himself LUDACRIS Killed it! It was an all around GREAT TiME and Westminster High School definitely REPRESENTED!

On July 2nd, 2009, four thousand US Marines of the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade launched a major helicopter assault into a Taliban stronghold in the Helmand River Valley in southern Afghanistan in order to break a military stalemate with the insurgent group.

Independent filmmaker Danfung Dennis was embedded with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Company, as they were dropped 18 km behind enemy lines to seize a key bridge. Within a few hours of landing, fierce fighting erupted and continued for the next three days, during which Lance Corporal Charles Sharp, from Adairsville, Georgia was shot and killed by a Taliban fighter.

After the initial fighting, the Marines searched for the insurgents who had killed Lance Corporal Sharp. Frustration set in as the Marines tried to fight the elusive enemy whose IED's cut off their supply lines. The Marines’ objective was to secure and protect the population, but the Afghan villagers complained that the fighting has driven them into the desert, and the bombing destroyed their homes. Can the Marines balance their contradictory roles as warriors and statesmen, as they struggle to win the hearts and minds of the Afghan people?

The footage was shot on a custom built rig, using a Canon 5D Mark II, 24-70 f/2.8 L lens, Sennheiser ME-66 and G2 wireless system, Singh-Ray variable ND filter, and Beachtek 2XAs mounted on a Glidecam 2000 HD with custom made aluminum 'wings.'

Due to a name conflict with a Google SketchUp Plugin, we now change title to Sketch2Photo.
We present a system that composes a realistic picture from a simple
freehand sketch annotated with text labels. The composed picture
is generated by seamlessly stitching several photographs in agreement
with the sketch and text labels; these are found by searching
the Internet. Although online image search generates many inappropriate
results, our system is able to automatically select suitable
photographs to generate a high quality composition, using a filtering
scheme to exclude undesirable images. We also provide a novel
image blending algorithm to allow seamless image composition.
Each blending result is given a numeric score, allowing us to find
an optimal combination of discovered images. Experimental results
show the method is very successful; we also evaluate our system using
the results from two user studies.

I recently spent a month embedded with the US Army 10th Mountain Division in Logar Province, Afghanistan.

This video is a preview of a story on how winning the hearts and minds of the Afghans is central to US military counter-insurgency strategy, yet operations resulting in civilian casualties is creating immense hostility among Afghans and pushing them toward the insurgency.

The 10th Mountain Division are the first reinforcements this year, followed by an additional 20,000 US troops that will deploy to break a military stalemate reached with the Taliban. The summer fighting is expected to be the heaviest since the war began.

With troops spread thin, air-strikes have been relied upon heavily. Civilian casualties have mounted, with over 2000 last year, a 40% increase over the year before. The Afghan government reported that on May 4th, 140 civilians were killed in US air strikes in the village of Granai.

Shooting will continue in the Korengal Valley in May and June and in Helmand Province in July.
