Carlos Zambrano likes Hummus

After a long stretch of dormancy, Z's no-hitter provides the inspiration for me to come out of retirement...

Pre-Season Prayers

Let's all look forward once again to good things this season...

Left Behind

Perenially injured Cubs starters Kerry Wiid and Mark Priior will once again stay behind in extended Spring Training as the rest of the team prepares to go north. Same old story? Well not quite. CubsFun has learned from Piitching coach Larry Rothschiild that both players will be throwing simulated games using the new Nintendo Wii.

"This is probably as close as these guys wiill ever get to piitching again in the Biig Leauges." said Rothschiild.

Time for a repost

Spring training games are back again and it's time to pick up your lumber and limber up.

See the comments in the original post for the highest CubsFun scores from last year.

Who's Yo Daddy?

Meet baseball's newest tycoon: PAPA JIM SPENDRY.
He's got money to burn and he wants you in his posse.

Soriano Money

The Federal Reserve had to scramble to print new bills just so the Cubs could pay Alfonso Soriano. Now it seems like everybody wants 'Soriano Money'.

Emergency Triple-A call up, Ryan O'Malley, pitched 8 shutout innings in his MLB debut.

It's Dr Strangecub!
Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the trade deadline.
Time to blow it up Jimbo.

More Dusty Love

The fans want it. Heck even the sports writers keep talking about it. What will it take for Jim Hendry to...

2006 Season to Date

A video essay on the Chicago Cubs 2006 season so far.

Backstop of a Man

For the past few years, everytime the Cubs slide into a losing streak it eventually runs into a brick wall. Talk about a stopper. Maybe the Cubs should consider growing ivy on Z.

Now you, too, can feel like a Cub!

Good friend and regular CubsFun reader, Tony, sent me a link to this online game. Warning: It's very addictive and can make you feel utterly foolish. Just like a Cub slugger!

To Infinity and Beyond

Glendon Rusch: "I assume [the bullpen] is probably where I'll end up"

Oh I have a feeling that Mr. Rusch will end up A LOT FARTHER than that.

Wretched Company

How kind of the Cubs to keep the Bucs from getting lonely down there.

Join the Bandwagon

Ahhh finally, something new that left us with a good taste in the mouth. Sweet bluey goodness spread all over.

What Gives?

The 2006 version of these Cubs are eating the 1st place Cards alive...

What else can happen?

I am starting a petition to move ALL Cubs related news from the sports section of the Trib to the Funnies page. All those in favor chime in.

The Time Has Come

I didn't want to have to do it this early in the season, but I think it is once again time to...

The Truth of It All

Highly intellectual writer and researcher extraordinaire Phil Rogers has just released a controversial new novel detailing information that sheds light on Dusty Baker's hold on the Cubs Manager position. Through painstaking research of documents dating all the way back to 1908, Rogers reveals a conspiracy that was created to hide this one fact:

We dare not say anymore for fear of reprisal among secret Cubdom societies...

Back from Hell

Once again CubsFun has garnered a scoop and has found out that All-Star 1st baseman Derrek Lee will be back in action in 12 hours and NOT 12 weeks as has been reported. The miracle recovery is due to a mysterious breakthrough CAST that was put on Derrek's hand. Tests have determined that he has actually increased the strength in the injured hand and should give him better bat speed and power.

Katharine McPhee

Ok. That just had to be said.
How do I relate this to Cubs Fun?
Well she is from LA,
and the Cubs are playing the Dodgers,
and I did photoshop that pic a bit.

Is Greg Maddux turning back time?

Number Two Starter

Glendon Rusch is giving new meaning to the term "Number Two Starter" (image) In the Cubs' 8-6 loss to the Cincinnati Reds, Rusch managed to give up a homerun to Reds pitcher, Bronson Arroyo, who had never hit a homerun before he faced the G-unit. Infact, before Wednesday, Arroyo had barely hit anything at all. He had a total of 4 hits in 55 career at bats, with a .077 batting average and 33 strikeouts. His last hit was on Oct. 2, 2001.

update: Are you freaking kidding me? Another home run to Arroyo! What kind of #2 is this?
