Comment on AI Tries to Decode Dolphins by Rich

Sat, 27 May 2017 11:55:18 +0000

No they're not developing a dolphin dictionary, their proposal is a passive monitoring system to characterize and enumerate discrete whistle structures of dolphins in a Swedish wildlife park. Since the system doesn't identify the vocalizing dolphin nor the accompanying behavior it will have no context for the vocalizations and no way to interpret meaning.

Comment on We Domesticated Ourselves by Joe M

Mon, 22 May 2017 12:51:59 +0000

Complete nonsense. We have not evolved in any way shape or form. Domestication is highly environmental. Influenced by repetition, force, assimilation, and other things. But this can all be undone. There are still children out there coming into this world being raised like wild animals. It might as well be 5000 years ago or 50. No matter what time period it is, we are always made by our surroundings. And to say our brains are smaller is naive and gullible. The evidence surrounding that theory is not highly conclusive. For one to say we domesticated ourselves is like the Big Bang Theory which says the universe created itself out of nothing. Completely idiotic and illogical. The existence of all things witnessed thus far has proven that everything is encased into a Cause and Effect relationship. We cannot possible think or do anything without being caused to. That automatically tells us that there is a higher intelligent power or force in our lives that is beyond our control and is leading us. Our will is secondary to the primary. Some would say that defines GOD. And it likely does.

Comment on Ectogenesis, Artificial Womb, Human Egg by Martin B

I believe it would be great. True equality between the sexes. Last year a friend of mine went through a disgraceful divorce and went from father to a visitor in a matter of weeks. The wife cheated on him, divorced and went to live away some 400 miles with her extended family. You see a void in my friends eyes now, the once happy dude is dead inside now... I definately don't want that happen to me or any future son. So... bring it on!

Comment on Electronic Gadget Cemetery in Ghana by Ama Okonjo

Yes, we need to do a proper funding for e-waste management in Accra as it has a very high risk factor for people who work there and even living in the near by areas. These wastes release toxic chemicals while these are burned out as the smoke released by the devices is mixed up in the air people breathe and consumed by individuals which is a great risk for their lives.
