Hi Jon, not sure if you got my email but just to say a big thank you for the Namibia recommendation (the icing on the cake!) - I had an amazing time, have some great memories and new friends, and will be returning to finish off the trip and to see some more of Africa in the near future! It was a trip of a lifetime :). For now back to the 'rat race' :( I hope all is well and that you are busy planning your next journey - best wishes, Linda

Hi Jon and Molly Christine and James here in the grey Hilux, we met at Essakane and sadly never got together again! On a whim, just to say hello and see how you are. I'm not sure you will get this as no news posted from you since you got back. I have read your blog again for the sheer pleasure of it. And wondering what became of you. I cannot believe you came through Nice and Monaco. We did not get back home until end November 09 so missed you by a whisker. We are off again at last, to South America in 2 weeks time. Hope you are well and socially/economically/happily adjusted ! ?

Wow, what an amazing adventure ! how did you ever get back to 'normality' after all that!? We stayed at Pongwe twice and were so impressed- a little haven. Really friendly, fun staff and great food. I know Luca - what character! Will you be going back to TZ? try some volunteering out there- I've just returned from a three month stint near Moshi and can't wait to go back. Good luck with any future journeys to far off places.

Dear Molly and Muni, My name is Alex Nolan, I am an intern at the Institute of Cultural Diplomacy base here in Berlin. We are undertaking work to educate and promote the benefits of Cultural Diplomacy. How it can used as a soft power tool to create and enhance relationships between peoples and countries. Currently we are undertaking work to organize a conference on Cultural Diplomacy in Africa. We are trying to break the stereotypical image that is commonly presented of Africa in the western media. To do this we are attempting to gather as many people as possible in a short space of time to discuss the challenges that face the peoples of the African continent and how the western world and assist and learn from it. To undertake this process we are using every and any means to create awareness. One such method is through our online Blog called We are in a situation where we are in need of original material - original and educational - effective and cohesive to enhance our own knowledge and that of those who visit our blog. I have been directed to your blog rather kindly by Simon Mooney. I posted on a Berlin expat facebook page searching for anyone who might be interested in compiling articles on Africa, the people, the various cultures, countries, the economies, the politics etc. I was wondering whether it would be possible that we could cooperate in sharing your blog entries on our blog site. I have to admit I have not had the chance to go through a the entire archive of your material but I have to admit your work and your actual journey has really motivated myself and my colleague. It is truly inspirational what you have accomplished. Any information that you could share with us, any help or assistance you can afford our NGO then please get into contact with myself via our blog or at All the best, Alex Nolan
