I have known Darian since the first day of the 6th grade and have been friends ever since. We was a great man who left us way too young. We spoke to others about each other as if we saw one another everyday. However, regret not taking advantage of seeing him every opportunity.

Thanks for your kind words.

Love you D!

Thank you for your kind words and accurate description of what Darian stood for and who he was. While I am still engulfed in the pain of missing my brother it is comforting to know how many other people loved, admired, and adored him and because he was able to touch your life and countless others I know that eventually I will feel peace. Missing my brother eternally. RIP D!

@mindpinball I think as long as the league's partners continue to preach to the converted - despite occasionally bragging about the new viewers the NFL gets year after year - it may not happen. However, there's far too much bandwidth for it to not work. With that said... @CeeDeeA has the right idea. Sometimes, it's just easier to do it yourself.

Nice post! I think this is a great idea as well.

The format for a pilot I shot included a "special interest" segment, which was in this first episode to teach the shotgun formation. It was mainly geared toward women, but I had said during our initial discussions that men might benefit as well.

So if it ever sees the light of day, we might have to have you on :-)

Scribe,

Great post, and a great idea. My wife has only recently begun to watch football games seriously (i.e. whenever the Steelers play), and she has many questions about the rules. While I have watched many a game over the years, I don't always have all the answers, so a show like that would be really helpful for fans like me to bone up on the nuances of the game and for her to understand the basics a bit better.

Unfortunately, it probably won't ever happen...

I am going to post this on my own site as background for speaking about the scholarship that has been created in his name at the BronxWorks agency, where he worked. I will keep you posted. Friends, family, and colleagues can now sponsor Jamel Melendez, Darian's co-worker in YAIP, the program he worked in, who will be running the New York City Marathon to raise money for the scholarship fund.

I don't care for hockey at all, that particular game just seemed like a thinly veiled reason for brandead simpletons to go out and 'f**k the system'.

It's incredibly disheartening to see people standing around filming it with their iPhones, and it just saddens me that people can find justification without reason to just go and smash things up.

What does it honestly take for invalids to be content?

Yeah, power to you. I hope all involved get what they deserve in the long run.

Mucho thanks! Should be interesting.

I do what I can.

Something tells me that the conversation has been had before, but I have a hard time understanding why there hasn't been a larger discussion in recent years, considering how many lambast the NCAA for diminished quality. No matter how much fans said they loved the scrappiness and imperfections throughout the first two weeks of the tournament, last night was proof that skill is paramount to long-term health of the sport. I just think that the game as is doesn't allow those skills to be revealed.

I tried my best to not speak as a pro snob, but being one, I can't help but to wonder why so many players struggle with decision making when they come out of college. Just knowning that players - especially guards - have to react quicker at the next level just makes this frustration grow by the second.

I think the idea is a novel one, and its something that the game could use from an aesthetic standpoint. I wonder if the mid-majors would be at risk....more uptempo game, less gimmicks, etc.

Great read Bro. Clinkscales. Keep doing work.

Jason, thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it. I also appreciate that we come off as non-venemous and as existing outside the insanity. Those things may not be completely true, but hell, we appreciate it.

Also, "better" baseball writer? I would just say "weirder."

Merci! It was supposed to be a temporary change for a new site, but that was over a year ago. While the new design may still happen, I don't mind keeping this for now.

A few more additions to come in April.

Gracias, Ed. If there was one NBA player - former or active - that I would love to have a sitdown interview with, it's Chris Webber. I was always fascinated by how he's had to shoulder these major disappointments, yet could still say "hey, I think I'm going to be an analyst now". In a crazy way, I see him as sort of a Pete Rose-like figure of college basketball in terms of how people want him to come clean. The only difference is that it was a situation where some fans actually side with him.

As for LJ, a few years back, I used to do Giants reports for a show at City College (this was when ChiChi was actually interning). I was supposed to call in at a certain time following his interview. I was more than happy to sit back and even be skipped because Johnson, himself, was such an interesting guest. He spoke of pretty much everything he had ever been involved with in basketball, for better or wose. So much changed when he came to New York that I almost have to remind myself he was once "Grandmama".

They say "Silence is Golden" and i agree that their non-presence is damning. However, letting others preach the gospel about you is cool in its own way. Moreover, Webber and LJ were the two focal points of investigation, so its probably not even worth it to them.

Nice write up JC.

Merv Matthew hit the nail on the head.

His point has got to be the biggest reason for "race conversations" in the NBA.

Just saw you on SportCenter's Not Top Ten . . . you came in at Number 2!!! (Number 1 was tough to beat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su1ozG3WPUM) Very impressive! If I were you I would try to parle this thing into a Letterman appearance or something. That would def get your name out there.
