Comment on Peer Pressure in Home Schooling – I Mean…Really? by Jenne

I LOVE YOUR ARTICLE!!!!! We have used many types of curriculum, because someone else's child did well with it. Of course, the company guarantees that their curriculum is the only one that works. We are actually getting ready to switch to an all textbook curriculum. Primarily because they seem to retain more and enjoy it. They also investigate further something they read in the textbook. Because it seems everyone is anti-textbook, I don't dare tell anyone this is what I am doing. I have found, sadly, that homeschoolers can be among the most critical. I, being one of them. We have homeschooled nine years and seem to finally have found what works. I would have found it sooner, had I did what worked instead of what is popular.

I am actually really starting to love it. It is a GREAT car inside. I still keep waiting for hamster to come out of it (Kia commercial). We don't have the side seat installed yet because the company that sells it never got back to me. In talking to the people that would actually install it, they don't have good things to say about the company behind it. They say it is a GREAT product from a cruddy company. I HOPE we can get something in soon though because I am doing the lifting to transfer him now and he is getting BIG at 6 foot. The trunk is very wide but not very tall so I am not sure. Carters manual chair fits in without having to be broken down but just barely. He has 22 inch wheels. He has a low back which goes about halfway up his back. The best advice I have is to see if the dealer will let you take one home overnight. That is how we decided. We needed to be able to test things out in the privacy of our own garage.

I was wondering how well your Flex was working out? I am also on the search for an accessible vehicle. My husband REFUSES to even ride in a mini-van (kinda funny since I'm the one who has to transfer him between the chair and the vehicle and drive the thing). The Flex looked like it would make transferring from a chair easy, especially with the transfer seat you showed in your picture. One question, do you think a power wheel chair would fit in the back if the seat back was folded down? Thanks~ Danielle

As someone who has used a Clinitron bed for pressure ulcer recovery I can attest to their effectiveness. April I hope you are able to find someone who is able to use this bed as they really do work. Take care and God bless. Scott.

How generous of you! I don't know anyone off the top of my head in that area but let me post out to some of the disability communities!

I have a Clinitron Bed- not for me. It was my Uncles and he passed away about 3 years ago. I still have the bed. I found your website and I wanted to tell you, that "sand" is actually glass beads. Make sure you or your family DON'T get that on their skin and then rub their eyes or mouth. I am trying to get rid of my Uncles and I have exhausted my self calling hospitals and nursing homes looking for someone who could use it. Do you know anyone who would? I am located in Indiana. They would have to pick up. I have 3 or 4 trash cans full of the beads and the bed is full as well. It is how it was when he was taken out and put in the hospital waiting his return. :( If you know anyone please email me. I am hoping to try and get rid of it by June for I am getting married and space is much needed around here. Thanks for your time! <3 Best wishes to you and your family!

Comment on Why I Will No Longer Run Giveaways by Trish

I think what it really boils down to is how people choose to define "consideration." I don't see signing up for an e-mail list or something similar to be an expenditure of considerable time or effort, especially if it's only required for "extra" entries. And I highly doubt that any state or federal authorities would ever get involved unless there were true and documented instances of unethical behavior on the part of a blogger holding giveaways. As far as future laws governing online giveaways, I'd also have to imagine they wouldn't regulate giveaways with prizes valued under a certain amount. That would certainly give most blogs out there the freedom to host legitimate giveaways without fear that they didn't do everything "perfectly." I don't think any of these things should seriously concern bloggers who host giveaways. When the intention is good, they set forth clear rules, don't require expenditure of considerable time or effort, and follow through with sending off the prize to a winner picked at random - what's the problem?

I am happy about it and I don't mean to not sound so grateful that we were able to get this but it just is one of those cars I keep thinking a team of hamsters is going to crawl out of :)
