Study Offers Hope for Marriages, Families, and Jobs

A study by the nonprofit PAIRS Foundation found statistically significant, lasting improvements in marital satisfaction for men and women who completed a nine-hour relationship skills training program. The organization says that expanding relationship skills training in communities nationwide offers the potential for creating tens of thousands of jobs while reducing billions in taxpayer expenses.

PAIRS Study Shows What Couples Are Fighting About, Offers Hope for Marriages

Nearly two-thirds of couples in committed relationships regularly argue with each other and more than a quarter quarrel more often than not. Researchers followed-up with hundreds of couples six months after they completed a nine-hour PAIRS Essentials class designed to improve communication, emotional understanding, and conflict resolution. Results of the follow-up study indicated a sharp decline in the frequency of disagreements with significant benefits for improving marriages, strengthening families and helping children succeed.

High School Students Pitch to Strengthen Marriages and Families Takes Top Award at 2009 DECA International Competition

The top award at the 2009 annual DECA conference in Anaheim went to an internet business plan for strengthening marriages and families. Nearly 15,000 teenagers representing 185,000 of their peers in over 4,500 chapters across the US, Canada, Germany, Mexico, Guam and Puerto Rico gathered several blocks from Disney Land recently to pitch the next big idea in a fiercely competitive contest for the best internet marketing plan. A three-member team from Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Florida brought home their school's first top international award with a pitch to harness the power of the Internet to teach relationship skills that strengthen marriages and families.

PAIRS Foundation Study Shows Improving Teen Communication Skills Helps Reduce Pregnancies

Helping teenagers improve communication skills, emotional understanding, and healthy conflict resolution is key to reducing teen pregnancies according to a report released today by the non-profit PAIRS Foundation. In a research study involving 137 teenage mothers and expectant teenage mothers in Miami-Dade County, PAIRS Foundation found that teaching youngsters skills for confiding, expressing emotions, and constructive conflict resolution significantly reduced factors that lead to teen childbearing.
