April's Law UK

Tue, 17 Sep 2013 07:24 UTC

Over the past decade or so there have been numerous children who have been abducted, murdered and subjected to horrendous sexual abuse.

In the vast majority of these cases the abducters have been proven to have been viewing child pornography on the internet through searches made via internet search engines.

Kostenloses Nutzungsrecht der Sendedaten für TV-Browser

Sat, 15 Dec 2007 03:42 UTC

Fri, 30 Mar 2007 02:38 UTC

>>> FRANCAIS ci dessous >>> DEUTSCH unten >>> ITALIANO sotto >>> NEDERLANDS hieronder het >>> ESPAGNOL abajo ENGLISH ----------- Adobe has announced the launch of their new CS3 line of products containing new and improved versions of previous software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, etc (details on www.adobe.com). With new products comes new pricing... fair enough. However, prices for the same product (i.e. the mac design premium upgrade from CS2.0) go from 599$ for an upgrade in the US to 1'057$ in Switzerland and 1'134$ in France and Germany, the worse being 1'178 $ for the UK... not fair enough! (all prices excl. tax). Prices in Europe have always been a little higher, but 190% of the US price is pushing it! There is an interesting comparison at the following address: http:// www.amanwithapencil.com/adobe.html that shows the difference in pricing between Apple and Adobe software. I have also written an article summarizing all the information I gathered (in English only) at the following address: http://web.mac.com/libine/iWeb/Site/ Article.html On April 23rd, 2007 I sent this petition to the European commission asking them to investigate and where possible act upon this situation. Please continue signing the petition as I am leaving it open as long as Adobe hasn't revised their pricing. In the meantime, if you can, don't purchase the upgrade, it's the best pressure we can have...

Netizens against Evidence (Amendment) (No2) Act 2012

Thu, 31 May 2012 04:19 UTC

We, Netizens who value internet freedom, call on the Malaysian Government to withdraw the Evidence (Amendment) (No2) Act 2012. The amendment which has been passed by both Upper and Lower Houses, has wide-ranging reach and extends to practically everyone who uses any internet platform – from e-mail and social media to blogs and online media. We oppose this amendment for these reasons: 1. It presumes guilt rather than innocence which contradicts the basis of many justice systems. The newly introduced Section 114(A)* goes against the principle of presumption of innocence meant to protect individuals against wrongful conviction and check against abuse of power by the authorities. 2. It makes Internet intermediaries -- parties that provide online community forums, blogging and hosting services -- liable for content that is published through its services. It can result in the removal of comment functions, which has a huge impact on the interactive nature of online media favoured by Malaysians. 3. It threatens freedom of expression online because the assumption of guilt has the chilling effect of promoting fear amongst those who use the Internet as a vibrant, interactive space for democratic deliberations. It also reduces the spaces for posting legitimate comments and opinions. 4. It allows hackers and cyber criminals to be free by making the person whose account/computer is hacked liable for any content/data which might have changed. The more skilled you are at hacking, the more the law protects you by assuming the party being hacked is guilty of the offence. 5. It reduces the opportunity to be anonymous online which is crucial in promoting a free and open Internet. This principle is particularly important to safeguard vulnerable individuals who depend on the anonymous nature of the Internet to protect themselves, eg women in situations of domestic violence who may be at risk if they are identified. Anonymity is also indispensable to protect whistleblowers from persecution by the authorities when they expose abuses of power. 6. The amendment is a bad law passed in haste and does not take into account public interest and participation. Penyembu[...]

America Online - Reinstate those who have lost bulk mailing list status

Sun, 2 Nov 2003 12:32 UTC

December 2005

This petition is now closed. Thanks to all who signed.

.......................................................

November 2003

Dear Mr. Miller:

We, the undersigned, hereby demand AOL reinstate those who have lost bulk mailing list status due to inconspicuous spam controls implanted on AOL 8.0 and 8.0 plus, without the users' knowledge, and further demand spam folders be located where they can readily be seen, and AOL immediately remove these bogus tos violations from our account records. Spam folders did not show up in our normal mail, it was not until one chose another method (such as AOL anywhere) of retrieving mail, that the spam folder was visible.

Most lists and members knew nothing of this, therefore we inadvertently reported each other as sending spam. (Aol was controlling what was and was not spam, without our knowledge, as it seems we've lost the right to view our own mail and make that decision for ourselves).

Many innocent people lost bulk mailing privileges for a 6 month period due to AOL's hasty decision, and we should not be penalized for AOL's mistakes. We have done nothing wrong and have followed tos rules. It is not a tos violation to send mail to those who have requested it be sent.

Stop ACTA in Malta! - Online Petition

Sat, 28 Jan 2012 08:54 UTC

ACTA - a global treaty - could allow corporations to censor the Internet. Negotiated in secret by a small number of rich countries and corporate powers, it would set up a shadowy new anti-counterfeiting body to allow private interests to police everything that we do online and impose massive penalties -- even prison sentences -- against people they say have harmed their business.

Here is a video with a better explanation:

WhatsApp for Windows Phone 7

Mon, 28 Mar 2011 09:51 UTC

According to Reuters, Microsoft has sold over two million licenses of Windows Phone 7 handset manufacturers like HTC, Samsung or LG. I think that all these licenses are not active, but will be in the not too distant future.

Also commented that Microsoft has recently reached an agreement with the manufacturer Nokia to develop a product line with this operating system and set aside the old Symbian.

The reasons for not yet developed the application on Windows Phone 7 I think that depart from reality. I read in forums that one of the reasons is the low number of devices with this operating system ... I think it is unfounded.

Another reason is that the API does not allow them to read the numbers of contacts of the device ... There are alternatives, such as manual entry or import from Windows Live, Facebook, etc.

Please heed to this request and that refer to your software is cross platform, WhatsApp realized in Windows Phone 7.
