Louisville to balance budget through reductions in department spending, settlement from Insight Fri, 10 Feb 2012 21:22:20 +0000 (image) Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government plans to overcome a $12 million deficit to the current fiscal year budget largely through reductions in individual department spending and through a settlement reached with Insight Communications Inc. The city plans to realize $6.8 million in savings across departments, according to a news release. Those savings stem from restricted spending by the departments, many of which have been operating below budget. PharMerica shares rise strong earnings report Fri, 10 Feb 2012 19:49:59 +0000 (image) Despite a down market Friday, shares of Louisville-based PharMerica Corp. were up after the company reported strong earnings after the market closed Thursday. As Business First reported late Thursday, PharMerica’s fourth-quarter net income rose to $7.9 million, or 27 cents per share, from $4.7 million, or 16 cents per share, a year earlier. Revenue rose almost 1 percent to $495.6 million. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial Network was for earnings of 21 cents per share for the quarter and revenue of about $504 million...

According to a database of athletic department financial figures for 340 Division 1 schools compiled by the Memphis Business Journal, U of L spent $83.8 million on its sports programs, and UK spent $81.8 million. Six facilities to establish Level II psychiatric care for children Fri, 10 Feb 2012 15:12:19 +0000 Six regional providers in Kentucky will establish Level II psychiatric residential treatment facilities for children with specialized physical and psychiatric care. Kentucky facilities have offered Level I psychiatric residential treatment facilities, or PRTF, since 1991, according to a news release. But the state did not have options for more intensive services for children. In 2009, about 229 Kentucky children were served in long-term psychiatric facilities in other states, which cost Kentucky about $17 million, according to a news release...

Wingstop opens Louisville restaurant Fri, 10 Feb 2012 14:33:30 +0000 (image) Wingstop, a Texas-based hot wing chain, has opened its first Louisville restaurant. The restaurant is located at 4812 Dixie Highway, in the Kingsford Center. According to a news release, the restaurant is part of a development agreement with longtime franchisee Eddie Williams, who also owns a location in Decatur, Ill., and was among the chain’s early franchisees outside Texas. As Business First reported in September, Williams plans to open four restaurants in the Louisville area. The chain, which has 500 restaurants nationwide, sells 10 flavors of chicken wings, sandwiches and chicken strips... |
