Denver Post names new president, CEO

(image) Ed Moss, a former publisher of the San Diego Union-Tribune, was named president and CEO of The Denver Post on Friday. He takes over Feb. 20. Moss also was named an executive vice president of New York-based Digital First Media, the company that manages Post publisher MediaNews Group Inc. Moss will oversee MediaNews Group’s operations in Colorado, New Mexico and Texas. Moss was publisher of the Union-Tribune from May 2009 until December 2011. Wells Fargo & Co. (NYSE: WFC) has jumped ahead of Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) for the top spot on Brand Finance's Banking 500, a list of the best global banking brands in 2012. Denver sees more retail job growth than most cities

(image) Metro Denver ranked 26th among the nation's 100 largest markets in the rate of growth of retail jobs last year from the year before, and ninth for the number of new retail jobs, according to a new analysis of federal jobs data. The analysis is by G. Scott Thomas, who writes the "On Numbers" blog on demographic trends for The Business Journals, the national online news division of the American City Business Journals. Douglas County EDC joins larger eco-devo effort

(image) Metro Denver’s newest economic development corporation came to life Thursday when new president Amy Sherman signed the code of ethics to join the larger Metro Denver Economic Development Corp. The Northwest Douglas County EDC, a private nonprofit company, will concentrate on attracting businesses to the Roxborough area, the southern Santa Fe corridor, west Highlands Ranch and the Sterling Ranch area, a new subdivision approved by Douglas County Commissioners last year. “This is a collaborative effort between elected officials, the private sector and all the EDC professionals in metro Denver,” Sherman said...

CH2M Hill lands World Cup contract in Qatar

Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. will broadcast "Back to the Start," a short film it released last year in theaters and online, as its first-ever national commercial during Sunday's broadcast of the Grammy Awards. The Denver Business journal reports that it'll be the first nationwide commercial for Denver-based Chipotle in the monster-burrito chain's 19-year history, and an unusually long commercial for a national broadcast. Spectranetics sets limit on legal fees for former executives

Spectranetics Corp., a medical laser manufacturer based in Colorado Springs, has put a limit of $2.43 million on further legal expenses incurred by two former executives now on trial in Denver, The Gazette reports. The former executives -- the company's CEO and business development manager -- agreed to the limit and in exchange they won't seek repayment of their legal fees if found guilty of import violations and defrauding the government.
