Determining Application
Which High-Frequency Power Switchmode Transformer is right for your application

Power Integrations
Precision is excited to work with Power Integrations by supplying transformers for the LinkSwitch-II reference designs. These transformers eliminate the need for common mode chokes and the Y capacitor typically needed for EMI filtering.

International Rectifier
Precision supplies flyback transformers for the reference design package of the International Rectifier (IR™) IRIS-series integrated switchers. These integrated switchers act as controllers for AC-DC switched mode power supply applications, and reduce size and component count by 25%.

Precision Products
Precision is an engineering-driven company with an extensive product line: High Frequency Power, 50/60/400Hz Power (Line Frequency), Current and Potential Sensing, Data/Signal/Telecommunications/RF, and Application Specific Magnetics.

PFC Inductor Series
Precision works with its customers to optimize a PFC solution for any specific application. In many cases, audible noise is not a problem. For example, when the power supply is housed in an enclosure with forced air, the PFC Inductor noise is not detectable and allows a lower cost solution.

APEC Trade Show 2010
APEC 2010 focuses on the practical and applied aspects of the power electronics business.

Distribution agreement with Future Electronics
Precision, Inc., a specialist in innovative custom-designed magnetics, has signed an agreement with Future Electronics for worldwide distribution of all custom and standardized Precision products. Future Electronics is the third-largest electronics distribution company in the world.

IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference
Welly Chou, senior design engineer at Precision, has been invited to present a paper on the PL Product at the 25th Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, to be held in Palm Springs, California from February 21-25, 2010.

The Transformer Association
Elections were held at The Transformer Association’s Fall Meeting on December 4-5, 2008 at Ponte Vedra Inn and Club in Ponte Vedra, Florida. David Anderson, President of Precision, is serving on the TTA Board of Directors.

RDK160
Precision Incorporated has released three custom transformers for use with the new Power Integrations LinkSwitch®-II reference designs for high-efficiency chargers and power adapters.

International Rectifier PFC
Delivered by Precision Incorporated for the International Rectifier IR1150 PFC–300 watt demo board, the IR requirements for this inductor included: Very low core loss, low temperature rise, excellent inductance stability over the current range, no audible noise under high ripple current conditions and the required inductance be achieved at high bias, with a single layer winding.

Micro-Components
Precision, Inc., has been selected to manufacture the key micro-component for a revolutionary hearing assistance technology announced recently by Able Planet, Inc. of Fort Collins, Colorado. Able Planet's micro-technology creates a direct wireless link between a hearing aid's T-coil and an electronic device such as a phone or headset. Research studies have shown that Able Planet's micro-technology improves the overall frequency response levels of telephones resulting in improved sound clarity.

Cummins Power Generation
Precision, Inc., Minneapolis, has acquired the assets of the magnetics division of Cummins Power Generation (CPG), including inventory, equipment, and product-related intellectual property. Precision will continue to provide magnetic components, such as transformers, to Cummins Power Generation and former CPG magnetics customers. Precision will also provide custom power supplies to former CPG customers.

Integrated Switcher Application
Precision, Inc., Minneapolis, will supply flyback transformers for the reference design package of the new International Rectifier (IR™) IRIS-series integrated switchers. The new integrated switchers act as controllers for AC-DC switched mode power supply applications, and reduce size and component count by 25%. The Precision flyback transformer was engineered by Precision to meet the specific requirements of the IRIS-series integrated switcher application.

High Performance PFC Inductors
Precision worked with International Rectifier to balance the trade-offs to develop the Inductor, Part #019-4120-00, a very high-performance inductor, met all of the 300 Watt circuit requirements of the IR 1150 Demo Board.

High Current Inductors
Precision Inc. now offers a line of industry standard high-current filter inductors. The inductors are available in six different product families targeting many applications including power supplies, amplifiers, regulators, RFI suppression, and filters.

Trane Cut Cost
Conventional wisdom says that standard, off-the-shelf components cost less than parts that are custom designed and manufactured. But when Terry Baier, an engineer at The Trane Company in La Crosse, Wisconsin, began looking for ways to reduce power distribution costs on several Trane products, he discovered that conventional wisdom was too expensive. A custom-designed and manufactured component from magnetics supplier Precision Inc. actually cost less than using off-the-shelf parts.
