When I was asked to interpret this still, a thousand different ideas flooded my mind. I wanted to create a dynamic film that took the audience on a journey and showed off the many strengths of this new breed of HD DSLR cameras, such as the Canon 7D, which we shot this film with. The camera's low light capabilities and light weight allow you to do things you'd never think to try with traditional cameras. This has been an amazing experience and it’s just the beginning.

I hope you enjoy this short - we had a blast making it!

Boat Safety Fims Proprietor and Jazz Series Curator Giga Shane offers this rendition of the lovingly worn "Polka Dots and Moon Beams" as the next entry into Boat Safety Films' Jazz Archival Series. Played on solo guitar, the chosen instrument of Shane's baccalaureate matriculation, Polka Dots sings to us through the decades, while it is briefly resuscitated for the duration of this improv. This one goes out to the late Harold "Bubba" Thurston, who generously taught the young Shane free of charge during the humid Sarasota springtime of 1998. This arrangement is derived from the one originally imparted by Bubba during meetings that year.

This is the motion piece from my final project at VFS in the Digital Design program. I worked with my partner Jake Graydon to create a heavily driven motion graphics website that promoted international volunteering to areas of crisis. This is the motion piece that drove the site.

As you watch this video you'll notice that there are three holding periods. During this time the user has the option to interact with some of the assets and characters within to learn more about the topic. We illustrated/designed all assets and characters and then assembled the entire scene in C4D. The website is still being constructed so check back soon for the link.

An experimental Time Lapse film exploring rush hour in London. Inspired by Koyaanisqatsi, the film uses time lapse photography techniques to create the visuals. A DSLR was set up to take a frame every 2 secs with a shutter speed of around 0.3 - 2 secs with an ND8 filter was used to create a motion blur which helps to increase the sense of rush and movement within the film.

This is a video I created using 15 second jpeg movies from my old point and shoot camera, pieced together in AfterEffects. It was shot around my old home in Woodstock partly on foot, on bike, leaning out of the window of a car, and on the train traveling from Poughkeepsie to NYC.

This one means a lot to me for very personal reasons. Hope you enjoy it.
