Mile of Music Festival Announces Return with First 50 Names from Much-Anticipated Lineup

Mile of Music, presented by Tundraland, has announced the first 50 names from its lineup of 200 artists in preparation for the festival's August 2018 return to Appleton, Wisconsin. With just over three months to go until the music-making begins, festival organizers were on hand at OuterEdge Stage last week to make the announcement at the annual "First 50" event.

Crews will be at the new trail at Sunset Park Boat Landing later in the afternoon to get started on the 13 miles of trail, that community leaders say is a big step toward revitalization of the riverfront.

Appleton police say 20-year-old Nicholas E. Arnold of Appleton was taken into custody in relation to that crime. He was confined to the Outagamie County Jail on April 10, on a burglary charge.

Appleton house fire is reminder to keep stove area clear

A lot of things went wrong Thursday afternoon, resulting in a stove fire spreading to the attic of an Appleton home -- prompting the rescue of one person and forcing the residents to stay with relatives. A kitchen fire on the 1500-block of N. Outagamie St. was called in at 4:38 p.m. Two people were in the home when the fire started, and one was still inside.

Appleton's City Plan Commission approved a proposal to put new storefronts at the old Kmart location on W. College Ave. Under the plan, the back of the building would be renovated for storage units in the first phase of the project, with retail stores going in the front in the future.
