Though the music was great, people were quickly going home for the weekend. In this case, many of them slowed down their paces and put some money into the hat of the young man.    The next day, the young artist came to the gate of the subway station, and put his hat on the ground gracefully. Different than the day before, he took out a large piece of paper and laid it on the ground and put some stones on it. Then he adjusted the violin and began playing. It seemed more pleasant to listen to.    Before long, the young violinist was surrounded with people, who were all attracted by the words on that paper. It said, “Last night, a gentleman named George Sang put an important thing into my hat by mistaken. Please come to claim it soon.”    Seeing this, it caused a great excitement and people wondered what it could be. After about half an hour, a middle-aged man ran there in a hurry and rushed through the crowd to the violinist and grabbed his shoulders and said, “Yes, it’s you. You did come here. I knew that you’re an honest man and would certainly come here.”    The young violinist asked calmly, “Are you Mr. George Sang?”    The man nodded. The violinist asked, “Did you lose something?”    “Lottery. It’s lottery,” said the man.    The violinist took out a lottery ticket on which George Sang’s name was seen. “Is it?” he asked.    George nodded promptly and seized the lottery ticket and kissed it, then he danced with the violinist.    The story turned out to be this: George Sang is an office clerk. He bought a lottery ticket issued by a bank a few days ago. The awards opened yesterday and he won a prize of $500,000. So he felt very happy after work and felt the music was so wonderful, that he took out 50 dollars and put in the hat. However the lottery ticket was also thrown in. The violinist was a student at an Arts College and had planned to attend advanced studies in Vienna. He had booked the ticket and would fly that morning. However when he was cleaning up he found the lottery ticket. Thinking that the owner would return to look for it, he cancelled the flight and came back to where he was given the lottery ticket.    Later someone asked the violinist: “At that time you were in needed to pay the tuition fee and you had to play the violin in the subway station every day to make the money. Then why didn’t you take the lottery ticket for yourself?”    The violinist said, “Although I don’t have much money, I live happily; but if I lose honesty I won’t be happy forever.”    Through our lives, we can gain a lot and lose so much. I am blood - life's blood! I am the color of danger and of bravery. I am willing to fight for a cause. I bring fire into the blood. Without me, the earth would be as empty as the moon. I am the color of passion and of love, the red rose, the poinsettia and the poppy.Purple rose up to his full height: He was very tall and spoke with great pomp: "I am the color of royalty and power. Kings, chiefs, and bishops have always chosen me for I am the sign of authority and wisdom. People do not question me! They listen and obey."  Finally Indigo spoke, much more quietly than all the others, but with just as much determination: "Think of me. I am the color of silence. You hardly notice me, but without me you all become superficial. I represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep water. You need me for balance and contrast, for prayer and inner peace."  And so the colors went on boasting, each convinced of his or her own superiority. Their quarreling became louder and louder. Once in a while, they hear them just in time. I met Connie the day she was admitted to the hospice ward, where I worked as a volunteer. Her husband, Bill, stood nervously nearby as she was transferred from the gurney to the hospital bed. Although Connie was in the final stages of her fight against cancer, she was alert and cheerful. We got her settled in. I finished marking her name on all the hospital supplies she would be using, then asked if she needed anything. "Oh, yes," she said, "would you please show me how to use the TV? I enjoy the soaps so much and I don't want to get behind on what's happening." Connie was a romantic. She loved soap operas, romance novels and movies with a good love story. As we became acquainted, she confided how frustrating it was to be married 32 years to a man who often called her "a silly woman." "Oh, I know Bill loves me," she said, "but he has never been one to say he loves me, or send cards to me." She sighed and looked out the window at the trees in the courtyard. "I'd give anything if he'd say 'I love you,' but it's just not in his nature." Bill visited Connie every day. In the beginning, he sat next to the bed while she watched the soaps. Later, when she began sleeping more, he paced up and down the hallway outside her room. Soon, when she no longer watched television and had fewer waking moments, I began spending more of my volunteer time with Bill. He talked about having worked as a carpenter and how he liked to go fishing. He and Connie had no children, but they'd been enjoying retirement by traveling, until Connie got sick. Bill could not express his feelings about the fact that his wife was dying. One day, over coffee in the cafeteria, I got him on the subject of women and how we need romance in our lives; how we love to get sentimental cards and love letters. "Do you tell Connie you love her?" I asked (knowing his answer), and he looked at me as if I was crazy. "I don't have to," he said. "She knows I do!" "I'm sure she knows," I said, reaching over and touching his hands rough, carpenter's hands that were gripping the cup as if it were the only thing he had to hang onto. "but she needs to hear it, Bill. She needs to hear what she has meant to you all these years. Please think about it." We walked back to Connie's room. Bill disappeared inside, and I left to visit another patient. Later, I saw Bill sitting by the bed. He was holding Connie's hand as she slept. The date was February 12. Two days later I walked down the hospice ward at noon. There stood Bill, leaning up against the wall in the hallway, staring at the floor. In the midst of utter devastation and chaos, a father left his wife safely at home and rushed to the school where his son was supposed to be, only to discover that the building was as flat as a pancake. After the unforgettably initial shock, he remembered the promise he had made to his son: "No matter what, I’ll always be there for you!" And tears began to fill his eyes. As he looked at the pile of ruins that once was the school, it looked hopeless, but he kept remembering his commitment to his son. He began to direct his attention towards where he walked his son to class at school each morning. Remembering his son’s classroom would be in the back right corner of the building; he rushed there and started digging through the ruins. As he was digging, other helpless parents arrived, clutching their hearts, saying: "My son!" "My daughter!" Other well meaning parents tried to pull him off what was left of the school, saying: "It s too late! They’re all dead! You can’t help! Go home! Come on, face reality, there’s nothing you can do!" To each parent he responded with one line: "Are you going to help me now?" And then he continued to dig for his son, stone by stone. The fire chief showed up and tried to pull him off the school’s ruins saying, "Fires are breaking out, explosions are happening everywhere. You’re in danger. We’ll take care of it. Go home." To which this loving, caring American father asked, "Are you going to help me now?" The police came and said, "You’re angry, anxious and it’s over. You’re endangering others. Go home. We’ll handle it!" To which he replied, "Are you going to help me now?" No one helped. Courageously he went on alone because he needed to know for himself: "Is my boy alive or is he dead?" He dug for eight hours...12 hours...24 hours...36 hours...then, in the 38th hour, he pulled back a large stone and heard his son’s voice. He screamed his son’s name, "ARMAND!" He heard back, "Dad!?!   It’s me, Dad! I told the other kids not to worry. I told them that if you were alive, you’d save me and when you saved me, they’d be saved. You promised, No matter what happens, I’ll always be there for you! You did it, Dad!" "What s going on in there? How is it?" the father asked. "There are 14 of us left out of 33, Dad. We’re scared, hungry, thirsty and thankful you’re here. When the building collapsed, it made a triangle, and it saved us." "Come out, boy!" "No, Dad! 第19446天生日,又一个诗人走了,走得非常突然。呆子不想做诗人,却还在写呆诗,这不,呆子也整一首情诗。

白天太亮,
贮存在脑海的胶带,
怕被过分曝光,
那些摄录着我对你的羞涩的爱。
婆娑时分的美丽都得珍藏,
并不是所有的爱都能呐喊。
于是我把自己交付给了晚上,
你的音容笑貌也就朦胧而来。
读着刚逝去的那位诗人的《怀想》,
爱情之花终也挤不进四月的明媚。
可繁花似锦的人间抑或天堂,
没有风能把闪烁着爱的诗歌吹散。

As he stood in front of the group of high-powered over-achievers he said, "Okay, time for a quiz.” Then he pulled out a one-gallon, wide-mouthed mason jar and set it on the table in front of him. He then produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar. When the jar was filled to the top and no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, "Is the jar full?" Everyone in the class yelled, "Yes."The time-management expert replied, "Really?"He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel, then dumped some gravel in and shook the jar causing pieces of gravel to work themselves down into the space between the big rocks. He then asked the group once more if the jar was full.   By this time the class was on to him. "Probably not," one of them answered. "Good!" he replied. He reached under the table and brought out a bucket of sand. He started dumping the sand in the jar and it went into all the spaces left between the rocks and the gravel. The old man’s beard was glazed by winter’s frost while he waited for a ride across the river. The wait seemed endless. His body became numb and stiff from the frigid north wind.     He heard the faint, steady rhythm of approaching hooves galloping along the frozen path. Anxiously, he watched as several horsemen rounded the bend. He let the first one passed by without any effort to get his attention, then another passed by, and another.  世界万物都是运动的,变化的,所以叫无常。有生就有死,所以人的生命也是无常的。宇宙包含一切众生的运动变化,所以只有它是相对静止的,永恒的。宇宙是空的,所以能容万物众生,纵然天翻地覆,多么惊心动魄的演变,宇宙的本质还是空的。人的心应该象宇宙,主宰自我,把自己当作小宇宙,何来烦恼,何来各种纠结没完没了?一切都是空的。向着死的目标坚定前行,无往而不乐。死得涅槃,不留下任何东西,本是赤条来,原应赤条归。唯一能留下的是思想、灵魂和功德,所以要行善积德,所以要传道渡人,所以要著书立字,以示有缘,娑婆诃,南无阿弥陀佛南无观世音菩萨南无大势至菩萨

In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went. He flew into the water, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the shore. His mother - in the house was looking out the window - saw the two as they got closer and closer together. In utter fear, she ran toward the water, yelling to her son as loudly as she could. Hearing her voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a return to swim to his mother. It was too late. Just as he reached her, the alligator reached him. From the dock, the mother grabbed her little boy by the arms just as the alligator snatched his legs. Then began an incredible tug-of-war between the two. The alligator was much stronger than the mother, but the mother was much too passionate to let go. A farmer happened to drive by, heard her screams, raced from his truck, took aim and shot the alligator. Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived. His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal and, on his arms, were deep scratches where his mother's fingernails dug into his flesh in her effort to hang on to the son she loved. The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy after the trauma, asked if he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his pant legs. And then, with obvious pride, he said to the reporter. But look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms, too. I have them because my mom wouldn't let go. You and I can identify with that little boy. We have scars, too. No, not from an alligator, or anything quite so dramatic. But, the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret. He flew 74 consecutive successful combat missions. However on his 75th mission, his F4 Phantom fighter was destroyed by a surface-to-air missile and he was forced to eject. The only thing between him and imminent death was his parachute that he prayed would open. The parachute did open and Charlie made it down to the ground alive, but he was captured and spent 6 years as a prisoner of war in a Vietnamese prison camp. One day, many years after returning to his homeland, Charlie and his wife were sitting in a little restaurant in Kansas City when he noticed two tables over was this guy who kept looking at him. Charlie looked back but didn’t recognize him, but he kept catching this guy staring at him. Finally the guy stood up and walked over to Charlie’s table and said, “You’re Captain Plumb.” Charlie looked up at him and said, “Yes, I am Captain Plumb.” The guy said,“ You’re that guy. You flew jet fighters in Vietnam. You’re a fighter pilot, part of that ‘Top Gun’ outfit. You launched from the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk, you parachuted into enemy territory and you spent six years as a prisoner of war.” Somewhat dumbfounded, Charlie looked up at the guy and asked, “How in the world did you know all that?” The man chuckled and said, “Because I packed your parachute.”   Charlie was speechless. The man grabbed Charlie’s hand and pumped his arm and said, “I guess it worked,” and walked off. 鄞州区正始中学 毛立挺 试卷总析 2014年宁波市十校联考应该说是一份质量极高的试卷,有适当的难度和恰当的区分度,试卷知识与能力兼顾,总体难度略低于年初的市统考,难度较大的题型主要是单选和写作。整份试卷紧紧围绕2014高考考试说明,内容与时俱进,词汇量的控制也比较合理,能充分考查学生词汇掌握程度,结合词汇,又恰如其分的考查了学生对语篇的理解能力和语言运用能力。同时,难能可贵的是,这份试卷也可以充分查考学生的心理素质,如果掌握了一定的词汇量和阅读技巧,没有仔细耐心的阅读,没有全盘考虑问题,想得到高分也是不容易的。   单项选择 单选考查的是考生对英语语法,词汇知识和简单表达形式的掌握情况。这份试卷很好地做到了这一点,命题者兼顾语言知识和语言运用,强调交际,总体难度中偏上(对于我们学校学生来说)。本份试卷单项的特点有:(1). 题1和题20都是情景对话题,说明英语语言的学习将越来越渗透到日常交际当中;(2). 题2、题4、题6、题9,题12,题14,题17和题18均为词汇词组辨析题,占到了单选总数的40%,其中题9 spoil的得分率较低,主要没弄清楚关于“破坏”这几个单词的辨析;题17很多学生选了give up ,关键是没掌握give out 有耗尽的意思;题18难度稍大,没有掌握 though可放于句末这一特点,造成得分率低。,这几题并不是单纯词汇考查,均需要学生充分理解句子语境的前提下才能得出正确答案,命题者把握了单选考查的重点是实词这一特点,也了解到学生的词语辨析能力差这一弱点,而词语辨析也是我们高三下一阶段复习的一个重点。   完型填空 完形填空很好地考查了学生整体把握语篇能力,上下文逻辑推理能力,词汇的运用和辨析能力,总体难度不大,考生在掌握一定词汇量基础上注重整体阅读和语篇把握,拿到17-19分也是大概率事件。其中第20题对考生有一定难度,但如果选用排除法也可以引刃而解。 阅读理解 阅读理解由五篇文章构成,题材各异,话题新颖,主要考查学生对篇章的理解能力、细节理解能力、猜词能力、推测能力、主旨大意、作者态度等。所选5篇文章题材及内容分布如下:   题材 内容 A篇 记叙文 一封不一般的感谢信 B篇 说明文 英文字典中某一单词的解释及应用 C篇 说明文  The sense of touch D篇 夹叙夹议 奥斯卡获得者的事迹 任务型阅读 说明文 部分英语谚语的可信度低 总体难度中等,如果学生平时有较好的阅读习惯并掌握一定词汇量,拿到高分应该不难[...]
