Department stores like Myer and David Jones are not going anywhere despite the disruptive forces battering them on all sides, according to a leading executive at Macy's, one of America's most iconic retailers. Executive chairman Terry Lundgren, who was chief executive from 2003 to early last year, said department stores still offered a compelling basic proposition to shoppers and could thrive again by adapting to the tectonic shifts in the industry.

Dollar General Corporation announced a voluntary recall of its 12-ounce packages of Clover Valley Iced Oatmeal Cookies with lot # L46217 30 with a best-by date of August 18, 2018 over concerns of undeclared milk and tree nuts. Halzack: Walmart's wage hike would be smart even without tax cuts

Walmart is boosting its starting salary for U.S. workers to $11 an hour, giving a one-time $200 to $1,000 cash bonus to eligible employees and expanding its maternity and parental leave benefits. The retailer said changes to its compensation and benefits policy will impact more than a million hourly workers in the U.S., with the wage increase effective next month.

Under previous Supreme Court rulings, when internet retailers don't have a physical presence in a state, they can't be forced to collect sales tax on sales into that state.
