Yes, I definitely don't want to let blogging about my trip detract from enjoying it!

I'm old-fashioned, so I think it's better that you are having a good time than having to tell us about it in pressured ways that would make you have less of a good time. We'll hear about it later--enjoy!

You gave a very interesting comparison of these two patterns - thank you. I love your dress too!

I am SO enjoying your trip to New Zealand! The photos are wonderful. They give me a better idea of what the island was like over 70 years ago. My father was stationed there at some point in WW2. He didn't talk about it much. And I didn't ask questions. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Clare! 15 is a great age. Enjoy every minute of it!

Glad you enjoyed Wellington. It is my favourite city, even when the weather is cold and windy (though it doesn't seem to get as windy as it used to when I lived there 45 years ago). There always seems to be so much to see and do. Luckily it is now a direct flight from Canberra.

Glad you struck such a good day! I like your picture of the nig piece of pounamu (greenstone) at Te Papa. It was completely unpolished when the museum opened in 1997 and is slowly being polished by the hands of all who touch it. Cool eh. Hapoy Birthday to Clare!

I've got a hydrangea growing in a sheltered spot in my Canberra garden so you should be fine to grow them in Melbourne. Loving these posts about your NZ holiday, seeing things that seemed quite ordinary and unremarkable to me through your eyes has made me appreciate them anew. And made me a little bit homesick, I have to say ...

That vilage/set is great. I found the films were not suitable for my age group either, and I must be 5 or 10 times older than she is! The violence was just excessive for my taste so I have not watched much of them at all. I loved reading the books 30 years ago though.
