Lorri Lennox - ARTIVITY

Mixed Media Art - ATC's, ACEO's and paper-arts.

Updated: 2018-01-03T21:00:32.477+08:00

HI Blogland :)So, What's been happening with me?Well I taught at ART IS YOU, that was a highlight of this year so far.I participated in the APRON PROJECT and hand-painted a 'girl' using my own stencil as a base and then working it all with fabric paint... It was the first time I've ever used fabric paint. It was trickier than usual - fabric is very unforgiving! It was fun though, and I totally loved my finished piece. One bidder bid a nice amount of money for her and she has gone to a loving home now.I began my journey with GelMoment www.lorri.gelmoment - a one step nail polish gel, that is fantastic!! I've been doing really well with it and it's the first Direct Sales company that I've worked in that has actually been making me some $$$ and I LOVE the product so much - that's the whole reason I joined up :) I have a great team of ladies now and am busy working markets - yes, with both my arty farty stuffs and GelMoment too! Busy Busy.I taught on the ASTOR Cruise ship last December - an art program - that was cool bananas! I met some wonderful people and made some special friends.I am teaching again on the ASTOR in a months time, from New Zealand back to Fremantle... WOWSA.. only a few weeks before I go to NZ - so excited!! Between now and then I have 6 GelMoment events to attend, so I'm a crazy busy girl right now.I prepared over 350 Kits!! for the cruise and am almost packed and ready to go.I met some very special art friends, Seth Apter, John Creighton Petersen, Michael and Andrea DeMeng & their beautiful daughters, Kecia Deveney & Linda Lucas... all thanks to the amazing work and love of Sallianne McClelland! I got to catch up with Vivian Paans who I hadn't seen for years, and she is as wonderful as ever. What an amazing time, and I had my friend Shirley visit for AIY form Sydney. The kitty next door "Cleo" decided she wanted to make my home her home... so she has adopted us.My colouring book was published.. AMAZING!! and I have a facebook group for the book and coloured pages (along with some free downloads) My art facebook page link is:  which is where I post most of my things lately.I've still battled some health issues, but onwards and upwards as more tests, procedures, surgeries will hopefully help me out in that regard.. 24/7 Pain sucks. My amazing HEALING OIL has been selling out really fast!! I developed 2 more beautiful blends..My website has a shopping cart too: and I'm very slack at sending out emails, so join the list, but don't hold your breath waiting for a newsletter haha Of course LOTS more has happened, but those are the things that stick out in my mind right now.. Here's some pics of my absenteeism - Enjoy blogland peeps xxxAbsent without Leave... yup I've been AWOL! Thanks to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and all the other places around the internet...[...]

Woohoo, another feature :)Please visit Featured Artist on Melanie StatnickartI've included my Interview Questions and Answers below :)  And..... some more artwork - Using my wonderful Faber Castell Gelatos again :)Thanks for visiting me :) Melanie Statnicks Interview with me :)MS: Tell me about youHi, I’m Lorri from Perth, Western AustraliaMS: How did you get your start in Art Journaling?I’ve always loved art, I originally started out rubber stamping about 25 years ago. With an insatiable desire for printed matter, notebooks & stationery, it stood to reason that one day I would have a paper art store. I closed the store a few years ago and decided to focus on making art and I am loving the process. Art Journaling was an excellent ‘escape’ for me – I found it very therapeutic, and immediately was hooked. I used to keep a diary as a young girl, so Art Journaling is like taking that diary to another level. The artistic possibilities for art journaling, is almost limitless and incredibly inspiring!MS: What size of Journal do you prefer to create in and why? At first I began using A5 blank page notebooks, I wasn’t happy with the quality of paper, so I started to use watercolor pads, which held the paint and glues much better. I am currently using the Dylusions 8x10 journal, I’m now onto my 2nd – The quality of the paper is fair & it’s big enough for me to ‘see’ what I’m doing ha-haMS: Do you set a goal to journal every day, or do you have to be in the mood?I try to do something artistic everyday - if I don’t I feel starved. If I am in an unhappy ‘mood’ then art journaling is the best thing for me, as it lifts me up. Like reading a good book, journaling for me is an escape into another world.MS: Do you keep a travel journal and tool kit with you?Yes, I have a little kit with a pencil case big enough to hold a mini journal or notebook to take out with me. I will sit while waiting for appointments and either sketch, write or tangle in my books. I like to visit cafes and relax with a coffee and my imagination. MS: Where do you get your ephemera from and what do you use to adhere it with?I collect vintage postcards and images, then I will scan them and print. I create digital collage sheets (and sell them via my etsy store) I like working digitally, but prefer to feel the pencil in my hand and the paint on my fingers. I will use a gel medium, such as Golden, or sometimes if I’m on the go – a glue stick works too! MS: What organic objects have you used in your journal to create interesting texture? Hmm, I don’t really adhere much other than paper to my journal pages – I prefer the paint and drawings to be textural in appearance. I like to use light and shade, often sticking down pieces of torn papers, map pages etc. and for me, I find this is enough… and less bulky too MS: Name some of your challenges as you begin a new page and what prompts do you use to move past them?I used to find that the biggest challenge was actually starting, but I overcome that by first of all choosing a color palette, then I begin to lay down some paint, or spray the page with ink. It begins to ‘flow’ then. Also, I will often begin by sketching a face somewhere on the blank page and then I work around it. If I’m totally stuck, I will begin a collage of sorts, by gluing down random pieces of paper in a color theme. Sometimes the collage papers will tell a story, so I will run with that. I allow my emotions to be present and will use them as ‘prompts’ for the theme of the page.MS: Name some of your must have tools and/ or mediums you use in your art journal.Pencils – 2b and graphite, Gesso, acrylic paint, ink sprays, stencils, ephemera/papers.MS: What technique have you found to be the most difficult for you?Often I have difficulty with shading, correcting the light source. MS: Do you wr[...]

Gelato Girl (Melbourne Workshop pics)

Wow, what an awesome time in Melbourne! Love it there - maybe I should move there one day.I met the amazing Shirley Henry, who I've been chatting to online for years. It was wonderful how well we got along, and shared a hotel room considering we hadn't ever met before. We together, hit Melbourne City and suburbs and had a wonderful time, eating, creating (The occasional drinking) and Met the awesome girls that attended my workshop. We created some awesome 'girl art' and here's the class project - It's a whimsical girl created with Gelatos :) Which are beautifully creamy, blendable, water soluable pastel crayons that are so much fun to work with and create gorgeous colour blends.[...]

I was thrilled to be included in the BESPOKE magazine feature :)[...]

2013 preview

Well hello there, I thought it was about time I updated my blog with something - so a little update of art and stuff was in order. I could fill the page with waffling a of how my life has been crazy topsy turfy and tell you about my emotional roller coaster rides, but I thought sharing some of my recent artwork would be nicer. So I will leave the emotional discussions for another time and share with you some of my most favourite recent work and highlights from 2013 :)[...]

Glass collage pendants, beading, button bracelets, drawing faces, tangling & more All classes were enjoyed by everyone and we always went Over the time allotted as we too were having so much fun :) Bec has lots of photos and I have a few, I can include my pics here - but most of the time We were so busy we forgot to take pics haha It was a beautiful cruise, with amazing organization by the cruise Director and his staff. I certainly hope to be invited again, and we were nominated as "consummate hosts" by several Students and one lady wrote a beautiful complimentary letter to the Cruise Director about us :) Heres a few pics - thanks for sharing this amazing experience with me by following my blog. Oh and if you are going to ask me "how to get a gig like this" - then here's the answer, so please don't Email me (last time I was inundated by questions - all emails were just wanting to know how & weren't even Supportive or happy for Bec and I, they just wanted to know how we did it! So here it is - DO WHAT YOU LIVE WITH PASSION! Be active in the community, hope you get "discovered" as we did, via an agent! The cruise companies don't employ anyone themselves! Bec and I have a good hostory of providing classes, of sharing our expertise and an enormous passio for all things creative :) There are also contracts to arrange and lots of paperwork, but it's all worth it :) Stay tuned for photos :)

Portfolio catch up

Hello, I thought I would do a catch up post featuring some of my favourite & newer art pieces. This is my new Journal by Dyan Revealy - I'm loving the size of this journal - it's approx 10x8 inches with some cream and white pages and a pocket inside the front for storing little cutouts or what-have-you. As I'm filling my journal I will update you with the current pages I've completed.[...]

Random creations from long ago... & What I've been doing, why I've been MIA!

Hi lovelies,Well this has been a while coming, a blog update! Woohoo. The above art is the most recent thing I've done - this was from LIFEBOOK 2012 class by Ady Almanza - I had fun doing this, not my usual style - but great fun to do, and I was happy with the way she turned out...I have also been busy listing my shop closure stocks onto the facebook group - Aussie Garage Sale - lots of bargains to be had over there! It's been keeping me very busy, and away from my usual facebook time haha! as well as away from my art and blog.In fact I'm feeling a little art-starved, so I think I will make it a goal to actually DO some art soon.Over the last few days I have been trawling through my computer files and was actually very suprised at the quantity of art/crafty things I have produced over the years.I see things being created now, that I had a play with years ago! Isn't it strange how things do a circle, and what was once popular, then faded, now has recurred again as the 'in thing'... it happens.Life is a circle, and I'm still going around in them personally.Things haven't changed much on that front :(Anyway, I thought I would upload some OLD pictures, of things that I made a while ago - I look back and think, wow, that was awful on some of them - but we all learn and develop our skills as we practice - so go and practice some more she says! LOL[...]

Kit Time :)

I've had some fun putting some gorgeous new kits together - They are now available on my ETSY store while stocks last. I don't repeat kits, so they can all be different and contain a variety of items for jewellery making, beading and embellishing. If you are like me, you will just love having them to pet and admire! LOL

Catch up

8 weeks since I blogged, I can't believe how fast time does fly by.Nothing much has happened, same stuff different day basically.I've been playing with art - which I love, and would like to do more of.I thought I would do a catch up post and just show some of the hings that I have been messing with :)Enjoy xxxThats my little stall at the art market - 3m x 3m isn't very big to fit all my stuff inside! But it was a good day, with lots of positive feedback and sales :)This is my design for my badges - please respect my copyright :) Thank you.Doodle class from LB2012, Created the words for myself to read everyday!! LOLJust a quick little paintingUrgh, colours from scan are terrible... it's much softer and nicer in real life ;)Loving this girlyOld journal page, not sure if I uploaded it here yet or not.I feel the hurt coming out of myself and pouring onto this page.Tweet little necklace I made from acrylic, collage and stuff.Wings to flysketch and my grubby rubby - oops, love that![...]

It's Holiday Time, so I thought how cool would it be to 'tangle' my own suitcase. This way if it goes along the conveyer belt I will spot it easily :)

I didn't overdo it, and could easily have continued to fill the case. Somehow it seemed to say stop, that's enough. So I left it as it is - I guess I can also see the front of the case, as its more tangled than the back :)

If you like this idea, then please let me know. Also if you decide to tangle your own cases after this inspiration - I would LOVE to see them!

I would love to get my 'tangles' onto some real cases out in the big wide world....... anyone recommend a manufacturer to me? Teehee.... GUESS? Are you listening! You need me to Tangle your stuff. ROFL

I finished my Frida Tangle :)
Please respect my copyright - if you want to use this image - just ask and I'm happy to share!

Lose it Like Bec

I'm so proud of my Bec - So far she has lost 25 kilos! and looks amazing for it - and is feeling it too.

Check out her blogpost here - LOSE IT LIKE BEC

She won't put photo's up until she has reached her goal - but that shouldn't be too much longer!! Then you will just say the biggest WOW!

Hold onto your heart

(image) Today I spent All Day, yes ALL DAY painting, collaging and getting messy. I loved it :)
Now I need to draw a little string from her finger to her heart, then add some words.......
I'm thinking "Hold onto your heart"

This thinking comes about from a couple of things - the first being that I recently saw my father let his heart go to someone in China - who wasn't who he thought she was, he was besotted by emails written by an interpreter not the girl in his 'pictures' and thus had his heart hurt :(
I think we must hold onto our hearts, and not give them away too easily, without really knowing who we are tending them to.
I want to be sure that my heart isn't hurt again, and I'm holding onto it really tight at the moment - perhaps a little too tight, as I'm not able to let the love in.
So I guess finding a balance, as we have to do with most things, is the trick.

I hope you enjoyed my painting -

Thanks also goes to Tam from Lifebook for all the different lessons, inspirations and prompts along this my creative journey for 2012.

Belated Stuff

Hello dear readers of my blog,

I've been a little preoccupied lately - sorting things for my upcoming Art Market has taken up a lot of my time. I've been designing labels, packaging and products for the market. This has kept me a little distracted from other things - which is not a bad thing.

I also celebrated my 50th birthday, pics to come!

During my absence I have also been reading a lot about 'moving on from the stuff I need to move on from" - those of you who know me well and have followed my blog, will know exactly what I'm meaning! Things have been up and down in Lorri Land lately. Some days are much better, and some are just as bad as they were soon after my 'revelations' - One step at a time.

As for my art, I have been doing some tangling - which I absolutely love!! I've created a monster in a friend KAZ - now on flickr as 'Kaztangle" - LOVE HER NAME!

Ustream has been put aside a little as I focus on other things, but I still catch my lovely streaming friends on twitter, and try to check into some streams. I must say, I'm missing all the lovely ladies there, so will be back up and streaming soon!

Here's a few things I have worked on lately :

(Blogged playing up with photo uploads.. will try again soon!)

I'm so excited, today I found out that I had won the Awesome "Tangled" Cup/Saucer from the very generous Neil Burley from Perfectly4med

I LOVE it - check out Neil's blog for some amazing inspiration and tangle ideas too!

Today I completed my first page in the LIFEBOOK 2012 course.
I'm looking forward to learning more, joining like-minded others in this creative journey for the year.
Here's my first page, celebrating my positive qualities or "Goddess Superpowers" as Tam (Willowing our wonderful teacher) would say.

My Muse has found it's way back home... yayI have dry embossed, wet embossed, inked, spritz sprayed, stamped, cut and glued - I have enjoyed every step of the process. The gorgeous flower embellishments are compliments of my friend Jenny From ustream - thanks Jen, I wanted to share the beauty and "use" them ;)Now what do I do with these?Hmm, how about a giveaway for followers of my blog - lets say, follow and share my blog with your friends via facebook, twitter for ONE entry, share on your blog for TWO entries. Comment here with your link to where you shared, tell me which tag you like and what you would do with it, and you could win TWO of these tags (randomly chosen)Background using number rubber stamp, embossed with clear powder and inked using IMPRESS inkpads. Rubber stamp by "Darcies" dressform cutout and inked up and adhered with pop dots. Stamped words and lace trim. Tag Time

Filling my time making tags - it's fun to play with my own spritzes, and I love the gorgeous 'very intense' colours, although my phone camera doesn't do them justice. They are shimmery and sparkly, with goosebump texture sprayed over the top.
The gorgeous flowers are hand made & gifted to me by the wonderful Jenny (ozegran) and I was so delighted to use them here on my tags :)
