I can't believe the day is almost here, that you are now to have the baby at any time! I can't wait to meet him/her.

Sounds pretty hectic... hang in there... just a few more weeks until these challenges are behind you, and the more amazing ones begin. And people need to mind their own business more, in all situations.

Oh, Kristen. I have no advice (!!!), but am happy to listen. Take good care.

I understand your reluctance and superstition, and I think it's okay to feel those things AND at the same time to live with hope for the future. It's the reason many cultures shun baby showers, and even buying things for the baby until he/she is delivered safely is taboo... I am from one such culture, heh. It's tricky to find a balance, and each person's comfort zone is different. For example, I did install the car seats, BUT I did not take their tags off or throw away the boxes. Superstition mixed with practicality.

Glad to read that you are well, and keeping the general discomforts of pregnancy (and the job) more or less at bay. Take good care!

Delighted for you to have reached the end of the first trimester without any adventures :). 33% baked, but arguably, the most critical 33%.

Sounds like the perfect situation to me. You can enjoy your time alone and catch up with colleagues when you have to be out and about. Rest. Recharge. Resume the conference routine when you're ready. I can definitely see you enjoying such a time with a little one:)

I understand about the heat --- maybe early morning, if you can get there before a session? I also understand about social anxiety at conferences. I have been really lucky, ending up (over almost 20 years now of conference-going) with an assortment of conference buddies, most of whom I have met because, as strangers, we presented on a panel together. I hope the same becomes true for you!

Cheers to graduating from the RE! I hope you have no reason to revisit any time soon :).
