Almost time for a New Year!!

It is hard to believe that it has been so long since I posted anything on my blog!   Time flys by when you are having fun.  I have been really busy working and living life. I love my husband.  He is the light of my life.  Anyways I plan on posting more often especially in the New Year

Hi I just wanted to tell everyone Happy New Year and I hope everyone has a productive year making quilts! I hope everyone's New Years resolutions come true.

Judy L. QuiltAlong Step 4

(image) (image)

Here is step 4 for quilt along. I decided to try out machine quilting in sections. So I quilted the top in 2 sections. All I have to do now are the borders and I will quilt that in sections also. It makes it so much easier.

I have finished all my blocks and have put one together. It is looking great. I think I will keep this one for myself.

Patchwork times --- Quiltalong

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a long time ..........but life can get in the way and I haven't been able to quilt very much. I am participating in a Quiltalong with Judy L from It is a beautiful quilt that she has designed. It is made from all stash material. My quilt kind of reminds of Spring time and Easter. You know with all the pastel colors. I really like it.

Monday Health and Fitness report

Well, I am kind of proud of myself. I managed to fit in 2 days of bike riding. I know I said I would bike ride 3 days a week for 30 minutes but I couldn't find time for a 3rd workout. ;( but I did 2 days so I am happy. The first day I rode I couldn't believe how out of shape I am. I rode around the block then had to stop and rest and start again. I didn't think I would make 30 minutes. This week I will JUST DO IT. I will ride 3 days for 30 excuses! Oh yeah...I lost 1 pound.

QFAH hour 1 & 2

Here are my half square triangles. I started mine tonight and so far I have made 40. Only 80 more to go. I am kind of worried about the background colors I picked out. Since his favorite colors are black and red, I tried to pick something different than leaves and flowers. I am hoping that there is enough contrast in the two colors.

I joined the crafty, creative and fit group on and I have not made a commitment to exercise yet. I have been on a low carb diet and lost 6 lbs in 1 month but I gained back 2 lbs within the last 2 weeks. So I have decided to make a commitment to start bike riding for 30 minutes 3 times a week. I am really good at making excuses for not exercising but this time I will not put it off or make excuses! I will JUST DO IT!! as the Nike ad says. LOL I really need to make a change in my lifestyle. I had a physical today and my blood pressure was kind of high...140 over 94. SO I will just do it when I get home from work!

Well, here is Star BOM block 5. The stars are so pretty. I am really liking the stars more and more. Every time we make a new one that block is my favorite till the next one comes along! I am so excited about the QFAH quilt. I can barely wait till tomorrow. It is beautiful!

Judy L.QFAH starts Oct. 6

Today I went to the store and bought the fabric I am going to use for my QFAH quilt that Judy L designed. Her website is It is a beautiful quilt. I am going to make it for my 20 year old son for his Christmas present. His favorite colors are black and red. He does not anything girly like flowers and stuff like that. The red is a little different but with the black running thru it. I thought that would blend it all together. Anyways I really like the fabric I chose! I hope he does too. I think it will turn out great!

Thrift shopping

(image) (image)

Saturday I went thrift shopping. I went to Bridgeford Farms Thrift Shop. All proceeds help mentally challenge children and adults. Anyways I got some really good bargains? I took a picture of the material I bought. Every piece of fabric is about 2 yards and and I ONLY PAID $1 FOR ALL OF IT!! The lady said they have so much stuff they just wanted to get rid of it and get some money to the kids. The jeans were normally priced $3 a pair but all clothes were half price. So I got 3 pairs of Levis 505, 2 pairs of Wranglers, and 2 pairs of shorts for my husband for $14. The lawn cushions cost $16 and all they need are a good cleaning. So we found some really good bargains! We believe in recycling, going green instead of going out and buying all new things.

I made this little pinchusion. I got the pattern on I thought it was real cute and I wanted to make it. It is easy and if you have extra buttons that is a way you can use them.

(image) is STAR BOM 4. I did ok in the center of the block but then I had problem with the flying geese...oh well, it is not perfect but I still like it.

Here is STAR BOM # 3 It was a lot of fun. It was easier than the others. I really like it! Thanks Judy L. I am going to make #4 tonight

Clean up

We started cleaning up this morning. My son, Quentin's grandson, Quentin and me all started cleaning the yard. It will take some time because there are little bitty pine cones all in the backyard. We need to get them up because of the dogs. JJ our lab, already cut her hind paw and has been limping. We need to bandage her foot. It is a lot of hard hot work.

New Dog came in with the Hurricane

We were sitting outside Sunday and this dog came running to us. She is a beautiful dog. She is a pit bull and my husband wants her. He said she would be a good watch dog and people will be scared of her just because she is a pit bull. She appears to be a gentle, friendly dog, maybe a family pet. She minds real good. My husband named her Molly. Looks like we have a new dog!

Kindness of Strangers

About 4 pm today, my next door neighbor (Virgina) knocked on the door and said some other people from the neighborhood wanted to help us remove the tree that fell on our travel trailer. I was so surprised that I was kind of speechless because I was worried about how we were going to take that tree down because it is so big. I was afraid it would be too hard for my husband and I to cut it down ourselves. We didn't have the extra money to pay anyone to remove it. We spent a lot of money buying gas to run the generator. We had to drive about 25 miles from our house to get gas since the town we live in did not have any electricity. We ran the AC at night so we could get a good nights sleep. I had to cook on a Coleman camp stove and I was thankful we had that. We lost all our food in the frig and in the freezer. We were without power since the 13th. I was really suprised when they offer to help us. Anyways it only took about 30 minutes and the tree was off our travel trailer! We will have to pick up all the tree sections and tree limbs tomorrow. They were so nice and we thanked them and they were on their way. They will be in my prayers tonight! I know God will bless them for helping us!
