Meet our Newest Poppy.... Farm Field Primitives

2015-03-16T19:07:04.014-07:00

Lemon Poppy Seeds has a new Poppy on board and we'd like to introduce her to you all. Melissa  with Farm Field Primitives creates beautiful primitive and extreme primitive wares. When I asked her where she came up with her company name this is what she told me: When trying to come up with the name of my shop, I simply looked outside for inspiration. We are grain farmers from Northwest Ohio. All I can see for miles are fields!!  The name combines our livelihood and my love of anything old.Melissa has been creating for over 20 years and her shop has been open for 5 years now. Here ideas come from patterns and molds that are simple. She likes her pieces to quietly accent displays of items of the past. Gardening and decorating are two of my favorite things. Living on a farm is the best! The seasons are our life, and I try to incorporate nature into my decorating. I love gardening and spend most of spring and summer outdoors  in the flower beds using primitives as garden accents. As the cooler weather moves in, I begin to make the inside of our old farmhouse cozy with displays using items from times gone by. I would love to hear the stories they could tell!Melissa updates Farm Field Primitives on the 1st of the month so please stop by and check out her updates.[...]

Meet Anglea with Old Time Market 1871.Angela updates her Lemon Poppy Shoppe twice a month with perfectly extreme prims.Angela like many artists is very quite and almost shy.  Where did her Business name arrive from?: Her father purchased a building that was built in 1871; she chose her business name to incorporate that year.  Half of the building was for her primitive shop & the other half is a little café. Anglea opened her shoppe in 2008 and closed it in 2013 to take care of her mother, though some of her items are sold in the café still.Angela loves the simple life of times past and her favorite holiday is ChristmasAnglea's shoppe, Olde Time Market 1871 is updated at least twice per month, on the 1st and 15th.[...]

Meet A Poppy........ Renee with Crows Roost Prims

2014-09-17T14:50:44.811-07:00

Every month Lemon Poppy Seeds Marketplace is introducing you to our of our Poppies and this month it is Renee with Crows Roost Prims.Crows Roost Prims can be seen all over the Lemon Poppy Seeds Marketplace as well as Etsy, Prims Magazine and ePattern shoppes to name a few. Let’s get to know Renee a little bit closer. How long have your been in business?  “Crows Roost Prims” has been in business since 2006.  Since then, I’ve been doing this full time.  I am trying to operate as a regular business—Monday thru Friday for orders:  wholesale and retail and then the weekends to make things to sell on a variety of selling places online and a local craft shop.  It doesn’t go as planned most times! What inspires you to make your creations?  I’m inspired by many things, including family and friends.   I made my youngest nephew and his dog “Hunter & his companion”:  Spencer & Legacy Church, that were published in Prims Magazine.  I made a baseball player and name him Rudy Hiltonen, after my boyfriends father and he made the cover of Prims Magazine Summer 2012 issue (but not my name!).I’m inspired by clouds in the sky, books and magazines and dreams—during the night and day dreaming! My eyes play tricks on me.  When looking at pictures, I will see it as something else and will get an idea.  I look at the same picture “up close” and see that it is totally something else (aging eyes!!)How often do you update your shoppe(s)?   I try to change my items at least twice a month. My shoppes are Lemon Poppy Seeds  Poppy Pattern Shoppe  Poppy Halloween ShoppeLittle more from you, I’ve been published in Stamping & Co.’s, PRIMS Magazine ever since the premier issue in 2010- (except for one). The latest issue of Prims, Autumn 2014, my 3 Snowpeople made the cover along with my name.I’ve been a pattern maker since 2007 and currently have over 275.  I haven’t made any new ones since 2010 but am hoping to start again in the near future.  All my epatterns have been on sale for $2 each and will be at least through the end of October. You can find me at a variety of places.  If you “Like” by Business Facebook page and check “Get Notifications” you will be kept up to date with all my newest creations and sales.  You can also check my blog for updates.  Thank you![...]

Meet a Poppy...Sandi with Shweet Potato Dolls N Patterns

2014-09-03T01:13:10.458-07:00

Every month we will be introducing you to one of our Marketplace Members. This month we would like to introduce you to Sandi with Shweet Potato Dolls N Patterns.Shweet Potato Dolls NPatterns’s face can be seen all over Lemon Poppy Seeds Marketplace. She sells her extreme primitives in her Poppy Shoppe and not to Prims in her CountryFried Primitive shoppe.  Halloween and Christmas are two holidays she loves so she creates and adds items to them all year long. Do you like to create your own? Visit her Poppy Pattern Shoppe for ePatterns and mailed patterns. How did you come about your business name? When I started online my business name was Always Crafty 2.  My daughters came up with this name because I was always creating things and my two girls helped me. Later after I taught myself to sew I asked permission of Carm with Shweet Potato Designs if I could use her graphics as inspiration for my dolls and ornaments. She allowed me to also use Shweet Potato as part of my name. How long have you been in business?I have been in business since late 2002. I started with hand painted wares and moved into hand made dolls. What inspires you to make your unique creations? Many of my dolls and ornaments are inspired by graphics from Shweet Potato Designs (her new name is Shweetie Pies). Having a 3 year old granddaughter gives me a lot of inspiration for whimsy dolls, and different folks will mention something or I will read a book and it inspires me to create something new. I love to work in all styles from extreme primitives to whimsy and cute. I sew but I also paint. How often do you update your Lemon Poppy Seeds shoppe(s)?My main shoppe is updated on the First of every month and I try to also update on the 15th. My other shoppes are updated as I create something new for it.Little more from Sandi….I found my love of art early in life. My mother and grandmother where always sewing by hand or machine. I did not learn to sew on a machine until 2003 when I picked up my daughter’s sewing machine and just played with it. I am dyslexic so most sewing patterns make no sense to me. When I discovered prims I also found a large group of women who love to share and lend a hand in any way they can. Many gals helped me via communities on line to figure out sewing. In 2011 I had 3 strokes that took away a great deal of my memories so I had to learn to sew and do other things again. I started back painting with Peg Dolls and Clothes Pins as a way to work on my motor skills and it worked. Right now my sewing machine is not working (note never let my husband clean my sewing machine again) so I decided to focus more on my hand painting. Perfect timing too, with a new granddaughter on the way in January 2015. It is never too early to start doll collections for Darla Rae and of course keep adding to Zoe Bug’s. You will also find me the online ezine Rusty Tin Roof along with a lot of other great artist, graphic designers and host. Hope you will visit my shoppes. I will be adding Christmas and Halloween hand painted collections any day now.[...]

This month we would like to introduce you to Lucille Rox of Lucy's Lazy Dayz Primitives.Lucille has shoppes in almost everyone of our Marketplaces. In her Lemon Poppy Seeds shoppe you will find her extreme primitives. Need wool for hair? Check out her Poppy Craft Supply shoppe and order you some Santa hair. Visit her Poppy Pattern shoppe for all kinds of patterns (Halloween right now) and grab you a few ready made Halloween decorations in her Poppy Halloween shoppe. How did you come about your business name?It was summer time and my friend and I were listening to the radio when Nat King Cole started singing "Lazy Hazy Day Of Summer". I'd planned to use Lucy and Primitives but needed more...the song supplied Lazy Dayz and Lucy's Lazy Dayz Primitives was born. How long have you been in business?I've been making dolls professionally since 1982....primitive dolls since 2003What inspires you to make your unique creations? I have a very vivid imagination and find inspiration everywhere. I just recently made a doll inspired by my new coffee mug. My passion for sewing started when I was about 4 years old. My mother taught me to respect needles and scissors and let me sew right beside her.How often do you update your Lemon Poppy Seeds shoppe(s)?I try to update the first and 15th. This year I've had a few setbacks that have made it difficult but I'll be back on schedule soon.Little more from Lucille I love to sew! I always have..started making doll clothes when I was 4 and my own clothes when I was 7. I love bright colors, music. I also love to take long walks and ride bicycle. I listen to audio books on my MP3 player while I sew.[...]

Meet a Poppy

2014-06-25T09:28:40.393-07:00

We want to introduce you to a very talented member of our Lemon Poppy Seeds Marketplace,  Kynfolk*primitives.  Meet Mary Ramos owner of Kynfolks*primitives ..Hello my name is Mary Ramos I am a 36 year old married mother of two beautiful daughters I have been with my wonderful husband for twenty years (High school sweethearts). I started sewing by hand at the age of 8 with my mother, by the age of 11 I was making bunny dolls for my mother to sell at work to help with our families finances I remember her giving me a little spending money from each bunny that would sell I remember loving the feeling of others liking my creations, so well that I could hardly help my mother keep up with the bunny doll orders. At the age of 14 my sisters put there money together and bought me my very own first sewing machine for Christmas from there my life was forever changed with the love of sewing  and crating most of all sharing all my creations.I never really made many primitives until 17 years ago. I was living in a apartment when I looked out the window one day and seen my neighbor lady carrying a funny looking black doll. I was in love from there on out, I asked her where she got it and how much she had pain when she4 told me it was $95.00 dollars I thought she was crazy so I told her I can make dolls like that. Never trying before that night I sat in front of my 1942  singer sewing machine my father in law gave me, (I still use it today). I was up all night and loved how she turned out, I have been making dolls  ever since, for me it’s all about what inspires me through out my life and that’s what comes out in my works. If I pass a old lady with glasses and think she is beautiful I may go home and make a doll that reminds me of her. I love nature everything about it and a lot of times my dolls will reflect my love for all the small thing’s sometimes over looked in life, I love the simple time’s when it didn’t matter what you looked like or if you had a whole in your shirt, as long as you was happy and worked hard that’s what makes life so wonderful. I love for each of my dolls to have there own personality, when you look at them you know what they represent rather it be a mother and child from 1802 or a hard working old farmer with wholes in his shirt and a old wake in his hand.As for my name Kynfolk Primitives I was inspired by my aunt who was very dear to my heart, she was a old country gall that loved hard work and being with her family. One day when my husband and I was visiting her to help her unload some wood we both popped up from the pile at the same and got the giggles, my husband said you to are crazy and you look just alike also. My aunt replied with we cant help we are just alike it’s because we are kinfolk. As soon as she said kinfolk in her funny little country voice I knew that would be my name forever. And so you have Kynfolk Primitives. I soon after lost my aunt to the good lord but she forever lives on in my name.I have been selling on lemonpoppyseeds for many years now and love being apart of such talented lady’s. I try to update my shop every month but sometime I may be in a really creative mood and update more.[...]
