PILLBOX: #166: My Name is Dan and I’m a (Diet) Coke Addict

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 17:51:36 +0000

New episodes coming soon.  This one was originally released in March, 2009... The New York Times is finally right.  I am an addict... This time we discuss iPhone app management woes, NetFlix, David Mamet's RED BELT, my Diet Coke addition and my being a "prig" (and when I usually spell "prig" it's with a "ck"), my narcolepsy, being befriended by former classmates (and "lady friends") on Facebook, the alarm updates, Heather Armstrong, being Super Poked... If you don't know what Twitter is by now, there's nothing I can do for you...just go to Twitter and stare at it for a while.  You'll work it out.  If that doesn't help, contact my sane alter ego at Jacket Media.  He's explain it to you slowly and clearly... What is the statute of limitations on being a teenage Lothario?  Or rather, wanting to be... The videos I was working on were written by our friend Joel Thomas, the mastermind of the hysterical video series,  Imaginary High-Maintenance Girlfriend.   BP166_2009_03_04_jiggy.mp3 Open

BONUS: Interview with “The Northbound Saga” creator/producer Seth Anderson

Mon, 05 Sep 2016 21:23:04 +0000

Here is my interview with SETH ANDERSON, the creator of The Northstar Saga.  I was going to wait and include this as part of the next episode of The Bitterest Pill, but I'm afraid time is running out on the Northbound Season Two Kickstarter campaign, so I thought I'd send it out now. Seth and I talk about the upcoming feature film, Northstar, and it's prequel web series, Northbound.  Now, I don't want to give out any spoilers, but let's just say I have a vested interest in them getting to the last four or so episodes of Season Two... I have never been so excited about a project in my life, and you can hear it in the interview, as I continuously cut Seth off to talk and talk and talk.  If you want to fully understand what we're on about, and don't already know about Northbound (available exclusively via, you can watch Season One as a supercut and the Character Teaser we talk about at great length, below. PILLBOX 165: He Folded My Face in Half

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 16:23:21 +0000

(2/17/09) First I had a twitch in my eye, then he folded my face in half.  I went to school with make-up on and disappointed my son.  Eventually, I shined my shoes and went to Kinkos.  Of course, this isn't even the half of it... Jerome Benton is an actor, dancer and vocalist, best known for being comic foil to Morris Day as a member of the funk rock band The Time.  He co-starred in Prince vehicles Purple Rain, Under the Cherry Moon and Graffiti Bridge.  He is currently preparing for a new album and tour with the original members of The Time. You don't really have the soundtrack to Purple Rain unless you have Ice Cream Castle... *Special note to particularly young white people: The Time is the band that brings the house down at the end of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back

#352: I’ll Never Know the Truth

Wed, 18 May 2016 23:53:59 +0000

I understand why the dog wants to be outside all day, I just don't think he understands why that's not possible. Or why my wife committed that drive-by... This show was recorded so long ago, I think it's the one I recorded right after Prince died...

PILLBOX: #249: The One About Prince

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 20:51:53 +0000

IN MEMORIAM: I have been a longtime fan of Prince.  Yes, I admit it.  I also admit I was a bit taken aback when my wife bought tickets to his recent concert.  Since he hadn't released an album that either of us cared for in five years or so, I didn't know what to expect.  Of course, I should have known to expect a journey... In this edition of The Bitterest Pill I talk about Prince for an hour and twenty minutes, from the day one of the Jones sisters handed me her copy of Dirty Mind to his May 28th engagement at the LA Forum. Enjoy. (June 9th, 2011)

#349: Surprise?

Fri, 08 Apr 2016 21:16:17 +0000

We threw a birthday party for Hudson.  Surprise? PLEASE NOTE: The mp3 originally published for this show was all kinds of messed up.  The file currently available has been fixed, and should include the entire 1 hour 24 minute episode. PLEASE ALSO NOTE: The episode has a strange beginning.  I was having trouble with the many systems that have to be in sync for the show to stream/record, but decided to include my complaining about the trouble I was having before the show IN the actual show.  The theme song doesn't start until about a minute and a half in. The video for the full recording session, including the lava lamp footage from when I went to get a tissue, if available on YouTube. THANKS!
