Canyon Barry's LeBron-esque block is the great play that nobody will remember (Yahoo Sports)

The play before the play began with a fly pattern, 15 feet of separation, and a ball, flying through the tension-filled Madison Square Garden air to its target and seemingly to the Elite Eight. Nobody will talk about what happened next, because what happened after what happened next was the greatest shot of the 2017 NCAA tournament, and arguably one of the great shots in NCAA tournament history. There was Khalil Iverson, racing down the floor of the world’s most famous arena, about to put Wisconsin up four with 36 seconds to play.

How De'Aaron Fox ended Lonzo Ball's college career and lifted Kentucky to the brink of another Final Four (Yahoo Sports)

Soft-spoken, mild-mannered, understated LaVar Ball wants you to believe his oldest son, Lonzo, is the greatest point guard of all time. In the real world, virtually all analysts believe Ball is one of the top two point guards in the 2017 draft class, slotting him anywhere from first to third in mock drafts. The fastest player in college basketball completely dominated his high-profile matchup with Ball, carrying the Wildcats to an 86-75 victory in the South Region semifinals, and into a very juicy Elite Eight matchup against North Carolina Sunday.

Florida is heading to the Elite 8 thanks to a dramatic, overtime buzzer-beater from Chris Chiozza. The shot, the first buzzer-beater of the tournament, was incredibly captured by photographers from the Associated Press and Getty.

De'Aaron Fox upstages Lonzo Ball, powers Kentucky to the Elite Eight (Yahoo Sports)

Fri, 24 Mar 2017 21:04:15 PDT

The insipid debate over whether Lonzo Ball is better than Steph Curry ended abruptly on Friday night when it became clear the heralded UCLA freshman may not even be college basketball’s premier point guard. Fellow freshman De’Aaron Fox staked his claim to that title with a performance for the ages in second-seeded Kentucky’s 86-75 Sweet 16 victory over the Bruins. Unquestionably the fastest point guard in college basketball, Fox erupted for a career-best 39 points by blowing past flat-footed UCLA defenders off the dribble over and over and finishing with ease around the rim.
