The streaking Clippers are down another All-Star. Chris Paul will undergo surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb and is expected to miss six to eight weeks. Paul was injured on a first-half play involving Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook in Monday night's victory.

The way the Miami Heat saw it, this was a reward. Goran Dragic had 21 points and eight assists, Wayne Ellington scored 18 off the bench and the Heat - saddled with one of the worst records in the NBA - overcame another triple-double from James Harden to beat the Houston Rockets 109-103 on Tuesday night. Dion Waiters scored 17, Tyler Johnson had 16 and James Johnson added 15 for the Heat, who trailed by a point midway through the fourth quarter before putting the game away with a 20-5 run.

After struggling to keep pace with the Minnesota Timberwolves for 24 minutes, San Antonio turned to its defensive stopper and offensive catalyst. Kawhi Leonard has been both for the Spurs all season, showing off his all-around game once again. Leonard had 34 points and San Antonio overcame a strong start by Minnesota for a 122-114 victory Tuesday night.

DeMar DeRozan's double-double and Cory Joseph's career night propelled the Toronto Raptors past the free-falling Brooklyn Nets. DeRozan had 36 points and 11 rebounds, and Joseph set a personal high by scoring 33 on Tuesday night in Toronto's 119-109 victory over Brooklyn. After shooting 3 for 14 in the first half, DeRozan found his stroke and finished 13 for 28.

Matthews made a go-ahead 3-pointer from the wing with 12 seconds left, and the Dallas Mavericks beat the Chicago Bulls 99-98 on Tuesday night for their first three-game winning streak of the season. ''We've been struggling, it's been tough for 2 1/2 months, but guys kept hanging in and believing in each other,'' coach Rick Carlisle said.

Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx owner Glen Taylor is kicking another $9-12 million into the Target Center renovation project. The Timberwolves announced the additional funds on Tuesday. Taylor says the new money is geared toward making sure the project to refurbish the dated arena in downtown Minneapolis is as effective as possible.

Wall and the Washington Wizards have won 12 in a row at home heading into the midpoint of the NBA season and haven't lost at Verizon Center since Dec. 6.
