Buying A Fur Coat For The Special Man In Your Life

Mon, 29 Nov 2010 23:21:00 +0000

(image) Fur coats for men are much different from the ones women would traditionally wear. Buying the appropriate style and fur for a mans coat is tricky, and to avoid being embarrassed you must make the correct choices when shopping around. Men's fur coats are designed differently in every aspect, from shape to stitching. It is important to keep this in mind.

First of all you will need to choose which fur you want the coat to be made from. Coyote, Raccoon, male mink, and opossum fur are the most common types that you will find used in a men's styled coat. All of these are quality and designed for durability in regular use, unlike a female coat that may be more delicate and fancyIf the person you are buying for is larger in size you may need to get a custom-made coat. These are an option other than the normal furs, so that the perfect fit is always possible. You want the coat to fit well, and it should never be too tight or lose, as this may cause damage to the pelt.(image)

If you do not want to buy a full fur coat, then consider trim and fur-lined models. These are equally as elegant and warm, but cost less and may be more practical for regular use. If you want something extraordinary, get a sable trimmed coat for the man you love.

Shape and design are important for fur coats for men. Blazer styles are excellent with fur trim added. Men's coats rarely have a defined shape like a woman's would, so that makes it easier to pick and choose the right style. Overall, just make sure the person you are buying for will enjoy whatever type you buy.

Fur And Leather - Everlasting Fashion And Comfort Through The Ages

Tue, 18 May 2010 16:07:00 +0000

(image) Leather and fur are timeless resources. The Japanese used Stingray leather, known as the Immortal Leather, for the hilts of their swords. Leathers like crocodile and snake are favorite leathers. You could also try something a little more unique, like ostrich or bullfrog, to stay very unique. There are many reasons why fur and leather are a great choice for your next winter coat or fashionable accessory. Let's take a look at leather and fur:

Fur and Leather are Comfortable
Fur and leather will keep you warm in the winter and looking good in the summer. Fur and leather are both soft and smooth to touch and give a supple, warm feel to your style.

Fur and Leather are Fashionable
From the models on the catwalk to the gruff, long-distance biker, you will find people from all walks of life finding fur and leather fashion working for them. Not question about it, fur and leather have always been and always will be stylish.

Fur and Leather are Warm
Fur and leather help hold in the heat to keep you warm all winter long. It's been surveyed that the number one reason people wear fur is because it will keep you nice and warm.

Fur and Leather supports habitats, cultures, and conservation
Some communities live off of the land. For instance, stingray leather is eaten by the Muslims in Southeast Asia as a substitute for meats that are taboo in the religion. Because of the regulations, trappers for furs and fisherman for leathers take a strong stance in making sure that their sources, the natural habitats, remain safe. The government closely controls the production, sale, and harvest of furs and leather in production of all types of animals.

Environmentally Friendly
Fur and leather are totally natural sources. They are biodegradable, yet they still last for years. They are completely natural sources of comfort, warmth, and fashion. The fish and wildlife organization take great care to ensure the proper preservation of species. There is no better way to support the environment than to buy naturally produced products.

Fur and Leather are Long-Lasting, Versatile, and Stay in Style
You will see that fur and leather products can last so long that many have them as heirlooms to their children and grandchildren. Like blue jeans, they never completely go out of style - versatile, they often stay in style for a lifetime.

Bomber Jackets Have Not Lost Their Appeal From the Time that They Were Introduced During World War One

Mon, 26 Apr 2010 19:56:00 +0000

Terrence Howard wearing Shearling Bomber Jacket model 192 from AspenFashions.comTraditional bomber jackets were originally worn by World War I pilots, technology has replaced them. Heated suits began to be used in the Second World War primarily because of the lighter weight. Before the advent of the bomber jacket in America, pilots were forced to use what they could afford. When riding in open cockpit airplanes pilots were routinely exposed to temperatures well below freezing, therefore, the use of a very warm coat was essential.Current bomber jackets are available in various colors and styles. They come in styles for men or for women. You can get a bomber jacket for any social situation or climate. What you will see on the market today is certainly made for this century.Today's jackets can be made of many different materials. A shearling bomber jacket is made of sheep skin that the wool was never separated. Although this material will keep you warm in during the freezing cold of winter, it is also a bit heavy. This material is well suited for jackets to be worn in very cold weather. Smaller individuals may want to consider a different type of material for their jacket that is not as heavy. You can also find synthetic bomber jackets. This material is much lighter than shearling yet is able to keep you almost as warm. You can get a bomber jacket that is made with synthetic fiber for a much lower price as well. They are not quite as warm as a traditional bomber jacket made of shearling but still quite warm. Bomber jackets made from leather are reasonably priced for the most part. Moderately priced and provides excellent protection from many different weather conditions. One key consideration you should make when purchasing a warm winter jacket is to determine whether or not you want to purchase a water resistant jacket or not. Water resistant can be especially important when camping or hiking or of course when you are heading out for work and it's raining. Water resistant jackets come in so many different looks and styles. Water resistance is especially important when choosing a goose down jacket. Down jackets are pretty much worthless when wet because the feathers lose all their insulating capabilities when they are wet.If you live in an area that experiences cold weather, a warm jacket is a necessity. Although it may not get that cool often where you may live, you'll be happy you have one when it does get that cold. Even if it is only for a day each year, a lightweight jacket just won't work in 30 degree climates. Maybe you'll go on a vacation to a colder place. If you visit Canada or Alaska during the summer time, a warm winter jacket is a definite necessity.Bomber Jackets are great winter jacket selections as they are very warm and will give you a stylishness you can't find anywhere else. I would definitely recommend getting one that is water-resistant, you'll be glad you did!Article Source: the AuthorThank you for taking the time to read this article. Shearling Coats - Warm and Luxurious

Thu, 11 Mar 2010 16:54:00 +0000

Shearling coats are a great way to stay warm, while appearing extremely luxurious. There are many styles of shearling coats made from many different brands. These jackets are great for men and women and I'll discuss some different options for male or female while shopping around.

Shearling jackets are not cheap. For a quality coat, expect to pay a minimum of $500 although way up to $7,000 for the highest end jackets. One of the more popular shearling brands on the market right now come from Australia, UGG. For an UGG shearling coat, you'll end up spending around $1,000 and up.

UGG also makes an incredible shearling boot, which is the product that put them on the map. These boots start at $110 and up, but will guarantee your feet and toes stay warm on those cold winter snowy days.

If you're shopping around and want to make sure you're getting the best quality shearling coat, always make sure it's made from grade-A sheepskin. If you're going to spend money and make an investment in this coat, it's worth spending a bit extra on a coat that will last years. Grade-A quality sheepskin is more durable and it's also more comfortable.

If you don't have a budget for a sheepskin coat, but would still like the glamorous look then there's still an option for you. Faux shearling coats are easily found and are a fraction of the price.

There are many reputable brands that make faux shearling coats as well. Steve Madden, they manufactured a faux shearling this year and it's priced at $100. Victoria Secret also has their jackets, which are priced around $150. For men, Orvis makes authentic and faux shearling jackets as well.

In order to keep your coat looking good for many years, they must be cared after in the right way. Always dry clean them or hand wash. It's also important to brush the hair as well. They make specialty soap which should always be used as well. To keep the color, do not expose to large amounts of sun.

Once you find the right shearling jacket, you'll be happy you made the purchase. There are many options online, so make sure to shop around and compare prices before making your final decision!

Care of Shearling Coats

Thu, 04 Feb 2010 18:57:00 +0000

(image) If your shearling coat or jacket gets wet, let them coat dry naturally. Don't place by a fire or other high heat source. Heat can dry out the natural oils in the hides.

Do not wash your coat or jacket in a washing machine or put in a dryer. Most shearling coats are meant to be dry cleaned. When looking for a dry cleaner, make sure that they know how to properly clean them. The process must include putting the
natural oils back into the hides. Without doing this process, the hides will dry out and the coat will be ruined.

When hanging your coat or jacket use a sturdy, well shaped coat hanger. Don't use a wire hanger that's going to put "pokies" in the shoulders and don't hang it up on a knob for extended periods of time.

Avoid stain resistant treatments that are made of silicone. We recommend Meltonian brand Protect-All. It will give you a layer of protection without changing the color or finish.

Do not put adhesive stickers on shearling coats or jackets, as part of the adhesive can either get left behind or the adhesive may itself pull off some of the fabric.

Never place your coat or jacket right next to a open fire or other strong heat source, such as a heater. The high heat from a fire or heater can damage the coats. Also, do not store them in direct sunlight as it can bleach them over time.

When storing your coat or jacket, never put them in a plastic garment bag for any sort of extended time because they need to breath. Cloth garment bags are highly recommended for both storage and travel.

Never leave your coat in a car or trunk for any amount of time on a hot day, especially if it is wet. The combination of water, being crumpled & excessive heat generally results in the coat shrinking, smelling musty and losing its shape.Even the best cleaner or restorer will have a tough time restoring it.

You can choose to have coat stored over the summer but most people tend to keep them at home in a climate controlled room and this seems to work fine. Never put them in the attic or basement for storage.
