Phil Collins “In the Air Tonight” By Naturally 7 in the Paris Metro!

Sat, 22 Nov 2008 07:05:30 +0000

Since we’ve riffed on Phil Collins for a bit, this really cool video was brought to my attention just recently. It features New York City-based a capella group Naturally 7, singing Phil Collin’s “In the Air Tonight”, while riding the Paris Metro. A very cool performance, well worth missing a few subway stops for.  Enjoy:

Well, Now that we’re in 1980’s nostalgia mode, how about another 80’s Classic – Easy Lover. A duet by Philip Bailey and Phil Collins, the song first appeared in 1984 on Philip Bailey’s album “Chinese Wall”. During this period, Bailey got Collins to produce his album, which turned into a Gold Album, propelled of course, […]

My memories of the E-Street Band

Mon, 21 Apr 2008 15:27:19 +0000

With the sad loss of Danny Federici, keyboard player with the E-Street band, I thought it would be a good time to remember seeing Bruce and the gang during their European tour for the album The Rising, at the Manchester Cricket Ground. What year was that now, 2003 perhaps? I had no idea what Bruce […]

Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band Lose A Family Member

Fri, 18 Apr 2008 22:36:38 +0000

Danny Federici, part of Bruce Springsteen’s E-Street Band, passed away yesterday in New York. Federici, often introduced as “Phantom Dan” was the keyboard man for the E-Street Band and also did some killer accordion work as well.  He had been playing with Springsteen since they first met in the 1960’s. Federici had been fighting Melanoma, and […]

Nine Inch Nails – How Did the DRM-Free Experiment Go?

Wed, 16 Apr 2008 20:37:41 +0000

In an earlier post we talked about how NIN (Nine Inch Nails) was giving away their latest album for free, along with purchase options with extras.  The downloads are all high quality, DRM-free (including the free versions). Well, sales started on March 2, and since then NIN has grossed $1.6 million (USD) in sales so […]

Apple to Offer Unlimited Music Downloads?

Sat, 29 Mar 2008 21:51:53 +0000

The latest hot rumor is that Apple is negotiating with the Music labels for an “unlimited download” plan. Word is that the cost of the downloads would be embedded within the cost of the iPod itself, so one could reasonably expect somewhat higher prices for the players themselves to account for this plan. If true, […]

Nine Inch Nails Releases Free Album

Fri, 28 Mar 2008 09:51:19 +0000

Interesting. Following on the tracks of the free Radiohead Album (technically, pay what you think its worth), Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails are releasing Ghosts I, with nine tracks, absolutely free and without DRM protection. The full collection, Ghosts I-IV (36 tracks) is available for $5 (DRM-free download) on the NIN website. If you’ve […]
