Help me ID/find this game: a portal-like with bouncing ball

Sat, 22 Mar 2014 06:12:46 -0800

Help me ID/find this game: it may have been playable in-browser. If downloadable, it was free and probably worked on winxp. It might have only been at a demo/tech demo state, but it was a 3d first person puzzler where you aim and it would show you the trajectory of where a ball would bounce and you could then teleport to the end point of the trajectory? The idea was that you'd have to figure out which surface/angle to bounce off in order to get to a goal destination. May even have been posted to mefi. it wasn't bounce! although that looks the closest my googling gets me. the graphics were more minimal/less cluttered.

Don't take it personally, babe, it just ain't your story

Are there any films/tv which do this: have a moment where it seems like a character is breaking the 4th wall and speaking directly to the camera/audience only to have the camera pull back to reveal the person they were actually talking to? Especially interested in examples where the words spoken before the second interlocutor is revealed could be interpreted as metacommentary, but also once the second person shows up, have a more "in world" meaning.

No mana burn? Wat!? Kids these days...

Magic the Gathering filter: so, I no longer play, but I just learned that mana burn was eliminated in 2010 and my curiosity was piqued: specifically with regard to vintage format, what (if anything) has gotten better/is actually getting played because of this change that was not getting played much before ?

Something other than tubular bells plz

What's the chime-y instrumental background music at ~1:35 of this clip from the No Reservations Thailand episode? Alternately, similar stuff would be great too.

Mario had a bad where?

Mon, 28 Mar 2011 11:34:25 -0800

Ok this is a bit silly because I may have even posted a link to it on this very site, and I know for certain that at one point I had starred it or shared it on google reader, but for the life of me I can't find it again: a wordless webcomic image about mario (of super mario brothers), having some kind of bad trip. Notable features:
1) it scrolls down vertically for quite a while so that what starts out sort of benign becomes progressively darker.

2) the website which it came from featured similarly dark themed video game comics some of which featured Sonic the hedgehog. Cannot remember the site either. It had the comics and some assorted video game review type stuff, but last I checked it, hadn't been updated in ages.

Help a lazy gamer out.

Is there a site that tells me which version of multiplatform (ps3/xbox360) games is the better one to get with regard to bugginess/availability of DLC etc.? I know that I can go look up individual reviews for specific title/platform combinations, but is there a specialist site that tracks the differences in a more at-a-glance manner?

Can has squamous text?

If I posted AskMes with any great frequency, this could be construed as a waste of a question, but: That Zalgo thread. What do I need to do to see it properly? I'm on xp/ff3.5 and I'm seeing little boxes with numbers in them.

Where is this image from?

Wed, 10 Jun 2009 11:12:32 -0800

So I have this desktop wallpaper image (filefront, apologies: largish). Where is it from/who is the artist? I have this vague sense that it was used as promo art for the game Rez or Rez HD, but I'm apparently not very good at using google today.

.ivr without Realplayer?

Fri, 19 Sep 2008 14:57:27 -0800

Is there anything free besides Realplayer that will play (or convert to some other format) Realplayer's .ivr files?

prefixy words?

Wed, 11 Jun 2008 12:19:32 -0800

What are some good words that form the prefixes for other words of varying definition? I want to write a rule-fudging sestina where I do (prefixy word as my sestina end of line word) + hyphen + linebreak + (ending of longer word). I've got things like:
arm (armory, armagnac, armageddon)
do (door, donate, dolor, doting, dog)

(you get the idea)

I've also got in, con, & all. What are some others?
