Congratulations on episode 2. I know how much work goes into creating a show like this. Your egg protectors certainly improved from the test models to the final models. The bridges were great too. I was amazed at how many Newtons some of them held. I liked the green screen effect that you used in the Mount Pakeham clip. Hope to see another episode before too long...Oh and ...really cool water fountains!

Great episode folks! My 6 year old son (Liam) was very excited to watch the part about the water fountain. Apparently, they have the same water fountain at Steve MacLean Public School! Now he knows what the counter is for. He used to think it was to show how much water was left in the fountain. Thanks to Portable TV, he now knows it's actually counting how many water bottles have been saved!

The art, roller coasters and social studies worked pretty well to divide up the segments of the show. I hope to put students in charge of that for the next episode. Students who weren't on camera for Episode One will get first "dibs" on appearing in Episode 2. Of course, you'll have to come up with a decent script to go along with it!

Thanks to your teacher's comments a few weeks ago, my class decided to record some more "Don't Say It!" games. Feel free to do the game yourselves, I certainly can't claim to be the inventor of it! :) We'd love to do something together. Maybe we could exchange 30 to 60 seconds of something? I Like to lick a lot of lollies, Licked are the lollies that I licked. The lollies are licked, I lick them a lot Lots of lollies that I licked. Miss.B told us that we might play the don't say it game on our next podcast...if it's okay with you. Who was talking to the big calculator? We loved how you interviewed the calculator! We loved the voice of the calculator - it was so hilarious. We enjoyed how the calculator expressed himself. For example, "DON'T PUT ME ON THE WALL" and "IT TICKLES WHEN YOU PUSH MY BOTTONS." Hi Miss B, Thanks so much for your comments. I find it hard to believe this is season 6 already. This year’s “Portable Radio Kids” were beginning kindergarten when Portable Radio started! Some of my students saw a picture of me from six years ago and commented how young I look. I’ve decided to take that as a compliment. I’m going to share your comments with the students this week. We’ll also listen to your new Townshipper Pod. I hope your students enjoy the process.

Hey, Great start to the year. My class and I subscribe to your podcast. We have just recently, so we can't say that we've heard all six seasons! Boy, you've been on air longer than most Network TV shows! Congrats! We've actually had a Portable Radio.ca listening lesson this year to break down why we've enjoyed listening to you. One of the items that made the list was your game "Don't say it!" My grade 3/4 students will make sure to come and comment in the future. We've actually started our own podcast this year called Townshipper Pod. We dedicated our first episode to all old and new Portable Radio contributors because you inspired us to podcast! After listening to your point of view I am feeling a little guilty about picking my students' sits... Miss B

I was listening to podcasts on my iPod today. Has it been 6 seasons already? How wonderful to hear new voices. This is a great start to the new year. I could hear that you were working on speaking carefully and slowly so that your opinions are easily heard and understood by the listener. This is a tricky skill to master when someone has a microphone in your face. I was wondering how many in the class were surprised at how they voices sounded on the podcast. Everyone who participated had good points of view and a reason. I liked that. The reason gave your opinion some weight showed that you had given some thought to the opinion. Keep your eyes open for issues that you can use in class for future "Points of View". I look forward to meeting your class soon.

This is sooooo cool! I love the name of your little radio, and I like how this is a kind of debate thing! In my opinion, it depends on the students. If the students pick, then there might be problems with not paying attention, getting along, goofing around. And if the teacher picks, then those problems are definitely going to happen! SO what I've always gone by, is let the teacher pick, and then if I don't like where I am, explain why to the teacher after class, and ask to move. Great show guys! Please comment on my blog too! My class is having a competition on who can get the most comments by Monday.

Hi Dave, Thanks for writing to us. Those students you read about in "Our Class Podcast" book were in grade 4 and 5 when we made the book. Now they are in grade 11 and 12 and are probably taller than me and my co-author Jane Smith! We are glad you liked our book. It was a lot of fun to make, and, to be honest, we had never made podcasts before! So, we were figuring it out and writing a book at the same time! We have continued to make podcasts with our classes ever since then and love the idea that your class in Calgary,Alberta is reading about things our classes are doing here in Ottawa, Ontario! We hope you try making a podcast of your own soon and let us know how it turns out. Your teachers might find our www.portablepd.ca site helpful for figuring out how to do that. To answer your question about computers, our school board uses Windows XP computers and they are made by a bunch of different companies. We hope to have at least one more podcast out before the end of the school year, which, for us, is on June 30th. Mr. Toft and Mrs. Smith

Personally, I think kids should not vote. Most kids really only know what their parents tell them when it comes to politics. It should be as it is or maybe even highschool level. When kids have minds of their own and their own opinions.

Thanks Mrs. Kemp! We had a great time building the drums. As you can see, I am fortunate to have such a talented group of students to work with. I'm glad to hear you're making progress on signing O Canada. There are a few parts I still find tricky as well.

Wow, your drums look and sound great! What a talented class, you are. By the way, my class watches and copies your sign language video of Oh Canada every morning. We are getting better and better with each practice. But I have to admit that my students are way better at learning it than I am.

We got this response from the Green Party: ----- Dear Mr. Toft: Our apologies for the delay in responding to your email, we experienced a large number of incoming emails around election day. Thank your for sharing this.  The Green Party works hard to engage youth in the democratic process and your efforts are inspiring. Sincerely. Shelley Information Officer

Dear Mr. Toft's Class, We listened to your podcast. Great job and congratulations on being on CBC radio! We have been talking about the same things in our classroom. We are writing persuasive letters about lowering the voting age to 16 years old. What does your class think of that idea? From Mrs. Kemp's Gr 7/8 Class at W.H. Day Elementary Bradford, Ontario

The podcast and the web tools book looked really great. I wish there is already podcast when I was still studying. But I think the book could enhance the computer skill of the Grade 6 students. Karen C. (Philippines)

English: I thing you guys are right, we should be able to vote and here are a few reasons from my opinion : they would know different party leaders and groups,in our school there's alot of gossip about it like in my class(Mme.marnie's class)we discuss who we think should win the elections or not win the elections and why we can't vote and the most common question is "Who are your parents voting for?",and children barely do somthing big for this world/country and elections is a big thing and with children we get evn more votersand it's thier chance to do somthing big for this country.I say it's MANDATORY that children should vote.

They are making a pledge for voting when they are older and these are some reasons why: - Because the taxes are too high and they need to be changed lower. - Other countries are not aloud to vote and we are but in the countries other people want to vote so they're countrie could be ruined because they don't have a say in it and they would love to. - If they want they're canadian gouverment to be the way they like, then you must vote or have no complains.
