Executive Director of UN World Food Programme attends conference in support of Syria and the Region

BRUSSELS – The Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), David Beasley, will be among global leaders at Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region on 24 and 25 April in Brussels. Hosted by the United Nations and the European Union, the conference seeks to raise funds for people affected by the war in Syria and to bolster the peace process.

MAPUTO – Mozambique loses more than 10.9% of its annual GDP due to chronic malnutrition, equivalent to a yearly loss of 62 billion MZN (1.6 billion USD), according to a recent study “The Cost of Hunger in Africa” (2017). To help overcome this reality, the Technical Secretariat for Food Security and Nutrition (SETSAN) and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) today presented the findings of an analysis that also provides recommendations to help curb malnutrition in Mozambique.

​DUBAI – The World Food Programme (WFP) today airlifted life-saving, nutrient-dense biscuits from its UN Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) in Dubai to Papua New Guinea. With a cargo of more than 80 metric tons of the nutritious high energy biscuits, the plane carried enough food to feed approximately 60,000 earthquake-affected people.
