I live about 2 miles north of Parmer and 620. In Austin, but only barely. I've seen American Goldfinches in the wintertime, and come to think of it last summer a canary yellow bird flew out in front of me while cycling so I didn't get a good look. Could have been a lesser, I guess. About the owls, I put up an owl house a few years ago, but rats moved in so I took it down. I would have thought the

Thanks! Eastern Screech-owl can be tricky to see. Keep your ears open in the evenings. And Lesser Goldfinches seem to be locally common or uncommon in different parts of town. What part of Austin is your neighborhood in?
