They sure are pretty even if they are weeds

Covered Bridge

We came upon this bridge on a back road in Lenhartsville PA.
This is the Dreibelbis Station Bridge, built in 1869
I did a little research.  It spans the Maiden Creek and is one of one 5 covered bridges left in Berks County

What a difference two months make...

March 26, 2013

May 31, 2014

He has grown so much and gained a significant amount of weight.
He looked like an alpaca in March.  He looks like a young horse now.

Pear Blossoms

The remnants of the orchards that used to be in this area, we have a small line of pear trees in the pasture.  They still flower and they still bear fruit.  So nice to see green and flowers after the harsh winter.

Small, Medium, and Large

Nap Time

Mid Yawn
As yet unnamed, 6 month old Appaloosa colt.  He's a bit underweight and needs some TLC but he's a cutie for sure.

Riding on the Road

It's been a long winter and we haven't been able to ride much other than in the field or the half frozen ring.  We took the horses on the road for the first time this month.  It was so nice to be out and about!

All that Hair

Not only does he have a beard but he has a moustache growing in.  Love this pony!

Smart Smoken' Booger aka "Booger" leaning on Kings Twisted Moosetracks aka "Twister"

White Tail Buck

This guy was hanging out in a field near my house.  He certainly blended in well.

Purely Starstruck

That's her papered name but we call her Barbie.  She will be 2 in April.

First place!

Twister got a first place blue at the 4H State Horse Show in the two year old Pinto gelding class.  He was great!

4H Fair

Our 4H club participated in the county fair again this year.  The fair was open Thursday, Friday and Saturday (August 8, 9, 10) - our club provided pony rides Friday afternoon, organized a gaming demo for Friday night, a Parade of Breeds for Saturday and pony rides on Saturday as well.  It was a busy weekend but very successful!Walking thru the fair to announce the gaming demoI was announcing and setting up equipementT and JazzyHeading into a class - it rained really hard earlier in the dayParade of Breeds - 20 horses representing 17 breedsMeeting the public[...]

Bareback and Bridleless

They have become quite the team!

Just a neck rope for some steering

He makes it look so easy

Cleared it by a mile

All Jazzed Up

Known around the barn as Jazzy.  She's not very big but she's a powerhouse!

4H Regionals

This month has been very busy with 4H.  The Production Regionals show was held on August 2nd.  T showed our 2 year old Gypsy Cob gelding, Twister.  In the holding area waiting for their classWaiting for the JudgeA blue ribbon and Master ShowmanOff to States we go with Twister!Yesterday was the Performance Show.  T qualified for Barrels, Poles & Keyhole with Moose for Horse, Senior Rider.  Lots of competition and really good riders.PolesBarrelsKeyholdShe got second in Poles and second in Keyhole which qualified her in both classes for States.  So that's two for us for States this year.Congrats to this great team!!!  Zip will probably be retired after this year.  He's definitely earned it.[...]

My back is acting up so not much riding lately but I did manage to get a ride in today on my steady Rooster in the sunshine.

Rooster after our ride today

Out of the fog

Just a bit foggy this morning

Birthday boy

Twister turned 2 yesterday. Apple Nutragrain bars were his birthday treat.

Wandering around the ring on Roo with my new (for me) treeless saddle. Can't do much because of a bad back but it's still nice to ride.

Grand Champ

T had a 4H show yesterday. Despite the 90 degree heat, she and Zip rocked. 3 blues and Grand Champion for the division. Proud of my girl!!

Look close - the dots above Rooster's head are actually gnats and they are so annoying.  They are one of the reasons that I don't trim their ear and let their manes and forelocks grow.

And her name is....
