Hi Stacey, thanks for asking about Juneberries! I sent this to you on Google Hangouts but I don't know if you'll get it, so I'll post it here too.

My favorite juneberry trees were along the bike path in Watertown. It is a very short path that runs behind the Target from School Street to Arlington Street. If you go into Target's back parking lot, there's an entrance to the bike path there, and two good trees, one on either side of the path's entrance near the bench and the bike rack. A blueberry bush too.
But the best trees are to the right, if that's where you enter the path. Go towards Arlington street, and there are 3-4 great juneberry trees on the left side of the path. There may be some on the right side too, but my memory is foggy on that.
If you are interested in beach plums, go left on the bike path instead and cross the little industrial park street to continue on the bike path. A little ahead on the left there are some beach plums. Just after the pine trees i think
There's a great mulberry tree behind the Commander's Mansion! And in that same park there is a pear tree in the area enclosed by the grape arbor

So cool! I wish my city had scavenger hunts. Well, I guess we do, but they're unofficial and if you get caught you go to prison. It's not very well coordinated now that I think of it. Anyway, I'm glad to have an update.

Yikes! Spammers!

We are low (between two streams - our backyard became part of a river) and soaked, but our few inches of water have receded. Now the floors are slippery and grimy, and the carpets are squishy and damp. Everything smells bad! It wouldn't be so bad if we weren't living in the basement apartment. We just keep our boots near the bed and go from there. Thanks for asking. How is it in your neck of the woods?

haha! that's awesome! well...ok, not really. but that kind of thing happens to me all the time. i'll point out a bird to my kids and, right on cue, the bird drops a bomb. it's like an avian conspiracy. they know when i'm coming.

and it's funny...kay's post about having your mouth open. i find myself doing that a lot. then the bird-dropping-a-bomb-as-he-flies-over-my-head scenario occurs to me and my mouth snaps shut so hard it shakes the leaves.

it's great that you're exposing your child to the wonders of nature at such a young age. it'll leave a lasting impression on him and he'll always remember these times with you.

The ancients thought raptors were omens, good or bad depending on what they did. Not getting hit by the white ribbon would probably have been considered a good omen.

Leonardo, I think it was, was tickled by a red kite -- a European buteo -- when he was a baby.

That's a seriously cute thing to do with your baby. I bet you're glad the bird poo didn't land on you. Though I guess that would be a good way to teach him not to look at flying birds with his mouth open.

Last Sunday, we were in the middle of another ladybug explosion. Up and down the Delmarva peninsula, or at least our stops in Snow Hill, MD, and Smyrna, DE. We may even have transported a few from there to there because at least one crawled into the groove between trunk and car in MD.

3 herons in the sky, it must have been beautiful. Even a single one has such a large, transcendent presence when swooping by, on its way to calm water.
