It's still beautiful there and still wild. I am hoping that they will restore and protect the cabin for posterity but I don't know if they will. A good friend spent the summer of 1966 on the lookout at Big Hole and he was my hiking companion the day I visited Priscilla.

Brings back many wonderful memories! I spent a summer atop Pricilla Peak. I was a 19 year old college working my way through school and was very fortunate to have had the opportunity spend my summer within the walls of that cabin. I still remember the spectacular views. The summer I spent there was the best summer of my life!

I don't think we would survive a day of 71º this time of year!

You're right. The temperature rose above freezing this afternoon and will stay that way. The weather forecast is predicting a high of 71° a few days from now.

That's a little harsh for you folks down there, but unlike here the low temps probably won't stay long.

Now in mid-January central Texas is pretending to be Montana, at least as much as our region ever can be. For the last 30 hours or so the temperature has stayed below freezing and a breeze blew all day yesterday.
