Yes, with the number and success of the MOD programs out there it's more than surprising no one has jumped on this one. Still, it's great to hear someone remembers this film with fondness. Let's keep our fingers crossed that this will be rectified, and soon. Thanks for the comment, Larry.

I have no idea why with all the "archive
collections" there can't be a well deserved dvd version of this film "A Man
Could Get Killed" with "James Garner" and
Sandra Dee." I just looked over at "Amazon"
to find nothing. Isn't any studio going to
do anything about this. I refuse to risk
buying some "collector's edition." Very sad as I remember seeing it as a teenager. Larry

I was working at a theatre in Westwood, CA when this film premiered in 1987. I snuck into the theatre every chance I could- everyday during its run- I knew then, I was watching a unique horror classic. I recently found out that my youngest sister loves horror films. She recounted a glowing litany of her favorites, and I asked if she had seen Angel Heart. She had never heard of it. I ordered it the next day at Amazon and had it shipped to her home.

She emailed me about an hour ago- she just received the DVD package- she's going to watch the film tomorrow.

My work here is done! :) I enjoyed reading your review- it was refreshing to hear someone speak of the film as passionately as I feel about it. In fact, whenever I hum or sing to myself, "Girl of my dreams, I love you- Honest, I do...", I imagine I am singing to the spirit of the film, itself!

Thank you very much for sharing your memories here, RadTact. I can't imagine how supremely difficult your childhood was because of the abuse you experienced. Music remains an amazing art form because it can transfix, soothe, and heal (at least, temporarily) its listeners. I sincerely hope it helped.

Way late to this post, but i'd like to express this to you regardless. i was born in 66. My first 4 years of life were pretty abusive. As such, i have some pretty distinct memories as early as age two.

Fast forward to 2010. I'm in a grocery store and here this song. I had never heard it before as far as i know, but nearly start crying in line listening to it. There have been times when i have played this song over and over through the entire day. It had a vague familiarity the moment i heard it in that store, and im quite certain i used to listen to it as a very young child. Why my first instinct was to want to cry...

Wow, you came over to the old blog! Yes, PKD was an extraordinary writer and visionary. It's kind of frightening to have see some of his ideas coming true. I was pleasantly surprised with this film. It's been awhile now, so I think I should probably re-watch this one again, and give 'Waking Life' a screening, too. Thanks for reading and the recommendation, Mark.

This is yet another of my favourites Michael. I'm a big fan of Philip K. Dick also. He's was one of Sci-fi's finest writers. His philosophical, paranoid ramblings are brilliantly served in this film and Linklater done a great job I wrote a review on this myself not that long ago and mentioned that apparently Terry Gilliam and screenwriter Charlie Kaufman were involved at one point. The film could have been very different had they went ahead. As much as I'm a fan of theirs, I'm very happy it was Linklater that took it forward. The rotoscoping animation is a real treat and a technique that was used in Linklater's earlier existential film "Waking Life". You should check that one out Michael. It's a little gem.

I just now heard the news that Kathleen has left us. Many condolences to her family, and all who were close to her during her last years. She remains a smile on our lips at the thought of her and her passions for stories for both young and not-so-young. We have all benefited from her presence here on earth. We miss you Darling !

Thank you very much.

Hi and welcome, Jamie. Great about TV shows carrying the flag for this holiday as compared with movies. You've included some great examples. Certainly, I seen those Bob Newhart episodes. They're lots of fun. Thanks so much for adding this :-).

Not very any Thanksgiving movies some to mind either, but at least TV shows don't totally ignore the holiday. I remember a T-day episode of "Cheers" where the gang, with nowhere to go, all end up at Carla's house. "Friends" had several Thanksgiving episodes, including one from their final season in which the gang is supposed to have dinner at Monica and Chandler's house, but Rachel and Phoebe sneak off to enter Emma in a beauty contest, and Joey and Ross sneak off to a football game. And there's the famous Bob Newhart Thanksgiving episode where Emily goes to her parents house in Seattle, and Jerry, Howard and Mr. Carlin all end up at Bob's apartment. Bob had won a turkey in a raffle, but had forgotten to defrost it. He and the other guys get drunk while watching football and since they won't be able to cook the turkey, they order Chinese food.
