Comment on Suellen Grealy, sister of author Lucy Grealy, is Hijacked by Grief by T. Hollingsworh

Definition of craven in English: craven ADJECTIVE Contemptibly lacking in courage; cowardly. Referring to Lucy Grealy as a craven drug addict seems to be extremely judgemental. Who are you to judge her courage or the lack thereof? My understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) is that she first became addicted to Oxy-Contin after corrective surgery in the UK, which led to her heroin addiction. Unfortunately, this happens all too often to those undergoing extremely painful (physically & psychologically) surgeries and medical treatment. When they can no longer be prescribed the pain medication, which is EXTREMELY addictive, they desperately turn to whatever is most readily available. Sadly, in Lucy's case, it seems to have been heroin.

SEW what??? Being perfect at spelling or grammar has nothing to do with her writing ability.

Attacking what someone has written based on spelling, typing or grammatical errors is unfair. One's opinion is still valuable no matter HOW they write. He had as much of a right as ANYONE to express his feelings on the subject, being a member of Lucy's family. You don't have to agree with them but you don't have to come off as being superior just because you may have a better command of language, spelling or typing. Sounds like you may the one who has some growing up to do. Ridiculing others is childish.

I know I'm way late here, but how many of you have been "the children left behind" when the parents are so very involved with ONE sick child? I've been there. No, I don't feel like a selfish brat when I was invisible because of ONE child with a problem. We raise ourselves.
