This was definately an effective format sequence that should be used more often.

Yes, Ian Freebairn-Smith did the original theme which I think was used for all of season 1. He also scored the first four episodes. When Post took over, his first episode was only credited to him and no mention of Pete Carpenter.

Ian Freebairn-Smith, actually did it as I recall, and also was the composer for all the episodes before Post took over scoring too.

Ha, they missed this one! Great. Glad to see ol' Buddy.

What a dramatic opening...an old guy looking up, a woman standing, and a young guy standing.

I guess that told everyone, "This will be a relaxed show with not a lot of violence..." Which isn't a bad thing...

WHAT? They bonked this? Rights owners can be so strange. I do believe that respect for copyright is lax on the Net, but this was promoting interest in the show and YouTube clips aren't exactly HD.

Glad nobody was upset about "Custer." Fun to see that one again. I forgot "Peter Palmer" as Bustard.

I had no idea they changed up the arrangement so often. I think the first one is still my favorite.

I was with you until Kotter. Just never got the appeal of it and was appalled that John Travolta was given a movie deal until I saw Saturday Night Fever. Then I was won over.

One of the oddest names on a familiar face, Granville Van Dusen. I remember this Susan Strasberg episode. When oh when will Harry O be on DVD? I'd give up all my other DVD's to have those two seasons. Yes, even my complete run of Danger Man/Secret Agent!

Wow!! So glad I found this site. I LOVED this show when I was little. In fact, it's the reason I went on to get my EMS license.

I only wish you had the version that showed one of the firemen poping the top off the two tubes of medicine. I love that part.

Thanks for posting this.

I thought there were lyrics to the opening theme something along the lines of "in seattle, seattle" -- 2nd season perhaps?

2009-02-05T20:50:00.000-08:00

Actually, I think that sequence doesn't come from the IRONSIDE pilot, but rather from a two-part, September 1972 crossover episode entitled "Five Days in the Death of Sgt. Brown." The story began on IRONSIDE, but concluded on THE BOLD ONES: THE NEW DOCTORS.

Cheers,
Jeff
