Frankly, I didn't know there was any great British food--ha-ha! When I was growing up in Blighty, forty-plus years ago, it was meat-potatoes-and-three-of-veg with pudding and custard for "sweet." Yes, Fanny Craddock had a cooking show, but we watched it to make fun of her name not learn how to cook.

When I first saw that cover I read it as Marco Pierre's Great White British Feast, which tied in nicely with your cannibal comment.

Which reminds of an online(?) comic by Ben Bittner (http://www.webcomicsnation.com/surlyben/cookingwithanne/series.php). A comic that is set in a post apocalyptic future where the only surviver is a girl called Anne. It is also part cook book
