Friend needs meal delivery after surgery, any suggestions for a service or chef?

Fri, 02 Feb 2018 05:04:16 GMT

It's now two years since your query but in case of later need...I received a GrubHub gift card for Christmas 2017 and I see it can be used for delivery from hundreds of Chicago restaurants. This would allow your friend a greater variety and choice. Much information is online.

French 75 in Ann Arbor?

Mon, 29 Jan 2018 13:38:02 GMT

Any bar/restaurant in Ann Arbor have a French 75 on their menu? Partner wants one for her birthday. Prefers it to be made by professionals, and with an “out-on-the-town” ambience. Alternately, a bar that would be willing and able to make one. Thanks.

Sir Beef Green Beans from the relish bar? Recipe anyone????

Looking for Shanghai Pork Buns - DTW

Sun, 28 Jan 2018 00:28:59 GMT

The best Xiao long bao in Metro Detroit in my opinion is at Jeff's Kitchen in Walled Lake. It is a very good restaurant, but a bit quirky. You will need to make a reservation - they do not take walk-ins - and you will have to place your order 3-4 days in advance as Jeff makes everything to order. It isn't cheap, but the food is very good. The menu is on yelp in the pictures, but Jeff https://www.yelp.com/biz/jeffs-kitchen-walled-lake Another choice is Best China - not as good, but they also have them (in Canton). But nothing like what you get in Shanghai or Taiwan!! For that you need to visit Toronto!

Asian noodle soup in Detroit area

Sun, 28 Jan 2018 00:24:48 GMT

Pho Lucky is fantastic - nice spring & summer rolls in addition to a very tasty Pho beef noodle soup. They have branches in Detroit (Midtown), Southfield, Grand River in Novi, and the original store in REdford Township on Joy Road.

Boogaloo Sandwich/Sauce @ Chef Greg's Soul -n- The Wall [DTW]

Thu, 25 Jan 2018 06:21:27 GMT

The neighborhood ain't much, and it's really not designed as an eat-it-here kind of place (though we did...), but his food really was good. That sauce...still haunting.

Michigan: Spatz bread

Fri, 12 Jan 2018 19:27:36 GMT

Houghton Lake has a little store that carries it but is only open in the Summer. Why not just take I 675 and get off on Davenport exit. Go down Davenport Ave. turn left on Bond and one block is Spatz. When you leave just pull out on State St. the street Spatz is on and is only a one way. Go down and follow signs to N I675. Wont take but 5 minutes to get too. Open till 5 p.m.

Dalt's of Worthington, Ohio

Wed, 20 Dec 2017 19:55:06 GMT

That's too funny! Yeah, that malt cake was absolutely amazing! It was quite the sight to see as it's being assembled! There were quite a few nights I'd take a slice home. I was there during the early mid 2000's. It still angers me how it ended up closing. Every couple years I Google the name and see if it's going to make a comeback lol wishful thinking I suppose. I agree, the atmosphere that place created was absolutely perfect. It was a well balance between casual and fine dining, as well as a nice bar scene as well. I've worked in white a few kitchens and nothing comes close to Dalts of Worthington, unless your willing to pay $50 a plate. If I do ever hit the lotto, rest assured Bobbb, I'll be right back here on chowhound to spread the word of it's comeback! Haha

Sir beef evansville

Mon, 11 Dec 2017 03:23:23 GMT

Where is lkfink? Thanks for sharing the beans recipe. I ate here all the time. Now I live right around the corner and wish it was here still. Awesome place! I could do a sir beef everyday. The sauce was great the buns the beef. Man. I looked at the building after it closed to see if maybe I could re-open but I was just dreaming. To much $$$. But I would kill for that sandwich. Please share the sauce and beef recipe please???? Mark

Best Kielbasa/Sausage SE Michigan

Mon, 11 Dec 2017 00:22:10 GMT

Like others here the Polish Market at 15 is usually a first stop. While not in Detroit the Almont Smokehouse has a great selection that is very good quality.

Cudighi (aka Yooper Sausage)

Sat, 02 Dec 2017 19:59:41 GMT

I'm originally from Crystal Falls, MI and the marinara/pizza sauce that they have up there (especially Dina Mia's in Florence) is nothing like I've ever found anywhere else. I've been hunting for a recipe that even vaguelly compares for YEARS. Would you have any suggestions or recipes that you'd be willing to share?
