Mesa 17.2.4 for Ubuntu 16.04 & 17.10tjaalton

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 08:54:56 +0000

Hi, the X-SWAT updates PPA has actually shipped Mesa 17.2 for 16.04 for a few weeks now, but it got bumped to the latest stable release yesterday. It’s available for the latest Ubuntu LTS (16.04) plus most recent interim release (17.10) as usual. This version has also been uploaded to respective proposed queues as it’s […](image)

Mesa 17.1.0 for Ubuntu 16.04 & 17.04tjaalton

The X-Updates PPA has the latest Mesa release for xenial and zesty, go grab it while it’s hot! On a related note, Mesa 17.0.6 got accepted to zesty-proposed, so give that a spin too if you’re running zesty and report “yay!”/”eww..” on the SRU bug.(image)

Hi, Mesa 17.0.2 backports can now be installed from the updates ppa. Have fun testing, and feel free to file any bugs you find using ‘apport-bug mesa’.(image)

X server 1.19.2 for zestytjaalton

Fri, 10 Mar 2017 12:22:16 +0000

Hi, I’ve prepared X server 1.19.2 along with the driver rebuilds for zesty on the staging ppa here: It also comes with mesa 17.0.1 while it’s still stuck in zesty-proposed… Anyway, give it a shot and report success/failure stories on the FFe bug. The plan is to migrate this to zesty next week.(image)

Mesa 13.0.4 for 16.04 & 16.10tjaalton

Fri, 10 Feb 2017 20:14:12 +0000

Unlike some online news might’ve let you believe, Mesa 13.0.x is not going to be in 16.04 LTS. And it has only been days since it received the “dated” 12.0.6 release as a SRU together with 16.10. That said, 13.0.4 is now available on ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/updates for both 16.04 and 16.10. The PPA carries latest LLVM […](image)

Mesa 12.0.6 in 16.04 & 16.10tjaalton

Thu, 26 Jan 2017 05:13:06 +0000

Previous LTS point-releases came with a renamed Mesa backported from the latest release (as in mesa-lts-wily for instance) . Among other issues this prevented providing newer Mesa backports for point-release users without getting a mess of different versions.  That’s why from 16.04.2 onwards Mesa will be backported unrenamed, and this time it is the last […](image)

Mesa 12.0.4 backport available for testingtjaalton

Fri, 02 Dec 2016 22:28:34 +0000

Hi! I’ve uploaded Mesa 12.0.4 for xenial and yakkety to my testing PPA for you to try out. 16.04 shipped with 11.2.0 so it’s a slightly bigger update there, while yakkety is already on 12.0.3 but the new version should give radeon users a 15% performance boost in certain games with complex shaders. Please give […](image)

Intel Graphics Gen4 and Newer Now Defaults to Modesetting Driver on Xtjaalton

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 20:37:15 +0000

Earlier this week Debian unstable and Ubuntu Yakkety switched to load the ‘modesetting’ X video driver by default on Intel graphics gen4 and newer. This roughly maps to GPU’s made since 2007 (965GM->). The main reason for this was to get rid of chasing after upstream git, because there hasn’t been a stable release in […](image)

Xserver 1.18.2, Mesa 11.2.0-rc3 in staging ppatjaalton

Sat, 12 Mar 2016 10:47:52 +0000

Xserver 1.18.2 was released yesterday, and it’s now available for xenial on the staging PPA. It has a fair number of fixes for glamor, DRI2/DRI3/Present and others. Plan is to move it to the main repository next week. The PPA also has a minor update to xserver-xorg-video-intel, and the latest release candidate for Mesa 11.2.0 […](image)

No Catalyst/fglrx video driver in Ubuntu 16.04tjaalton

Fri, 11 Mar 2016 14:48:01 +0000

In case someone hasn’t noticed yet, fglrx has been removed from Xenial. There are a couple of reasons for this. First of all, the driver did not support XServer 1.18 which we wanted to get in for 16.04. But more importantly, AMD asked us earlier this year to migrate to the open driver stack since […](image)
